- "Justice without a great cause begets nothing more than slaughter. However, that same slaughter in the name of a great cause is justice."
- —Damien Knights, Master of the Order
Damien Knights was a Human (Korun) male Jedi Master of legendary status who was the Master of the Order in the New Jedi Order. Damien served the Jedi Order during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. A talented Force user, Damien possesed a midi-chlorian count of 19,800 which was the second highest under Anakin Skywalker who had a count of 20,000+. Due to his immense power in the Force, Damien was recognized as the second strongest Jedi Knight of the era, with Skywalker being the first. Hailing from the world of Haruun Kal, Damien Knights is the Twenty-eighth Monarch of the Knights Family. He was a senior member of the New Jedi High Council and served as the Master of the Order. He is widely considered one of the greatest and most powerful Jedi Masters in galactic history.
A descendant of the famed Knights Family who fought in numerous wars in the days of the Old Republic, Damien was always seen at the present continuing on their legacy, fighting against the dark side and all the while advancing Jedi knowledge. Damien is the grandson of the famed Jedi Master, Jūshirō Knights.
In addition to his advanced control of the Force, Damien was a master of all seven form of lightsaber combat and was widely considered one of the best swordsmen in the Jedi Order. He mastered Vaapad, the modern seventh form of lightsaber combat. Mace Windu and Damien are the only practitioners of the form who did not fall to the dark side.
It was Mace Windu and Damien Knights who led two hundred and twelve Jedi into combat at the Battle of Geonosis. He continued to serve the Republic throughout the Clone Wars, often on the front lines of fierce fighting, where he led Republic forces as a Senior Jedi General. He spent years commanding the 41st Elite Corps with Clone Commander CC-1004 (Gree), winning many battles that made him as legendary as he was. At the pinnacle of the war, he had earned a reputation that made him a constant target for the plans of General Grievous and Count Dooku alike. He would distinguish himself across many battlefronts, most notably Christophsis, Teth, Krant, Haruun Kal, Ryloth, Juma 9 and Behpour, Malastare, Quell, Maridum, Felucia, Onerdon, Null, Carlac, Brentaal IV, Iceberg III, Kamino, Umbara, The Rig, Foerost, Naboo, Alderaan, Cerea, Boz Pity, Saleucami, and Coruscant.
In some point in the year of 21 BBY, Damien met and saved Jedi Knight Korrah Naberrie. He would marry her and have a child with her.
Following the initiation of Order 66, Damien alongside Korrah Naberrie Knights, went into exile. Spending almost 20 years hidden, Damien joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic, where he helped several Rebellion fighters in restoring the Republic.
Years later, Damien alongside Luke Skywalker helped create the New Jedi Order as one of the founders, and a year later, trained Kyle Katarn. Continuing to be part of the New Jedi Order, Damien joined the High Council while becoming a Jedi Battlemaster and Master of the Order.
During this tenure, and following the years of the first Galactic Civil War, Damien would once again thrust onto the front lines as one of the few Generals of the New Jedi Order, during the Yuuzhan Vong War, an invasion by the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong species. During the galaxy-wide war, Damien encountered many family problems, such as his wife and son both were under the infection of a serious disease, as his son would be left in a coma for a year. Damien eventually reunited with his former apprentice Kyle Katarn, who went missing during the War on Coruscant. Damien eventually lost many of his Padawans, and other Jedi Knights who were his friends and had trained under him. During the final years of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Damien and Luke Skywalker ended the war after saving the Solo Twins 28 ABY. Following the years after the war, was involved in the Swarm War, to which he was only a part of in it's final stages. Still, peace was not yet achieved, to which he would then fight in the Second Galactic Civil War a few years later. Following towards the end of the war, Damien was part of a mission where he was able to lure Darth Caedus towards his sister, which led to the Sith Lord's death, with the apparent aid of Luke as well.
Shortly after the end of the war, Damien and his family, as some of his apprentices met with a similar fate to that of Luke Skywalker. After his trial, Damien and his family were visited by Chief of State Natasi Daala, in which she ordered her men to arrest the Jedi family. Avoiding a trial, as even anti-Jedi sentiment grew, Damien noticed at how many people of Daala's government began to go against the Jedi. Damien discovered how much trust had already been erased, thus seemingly the Jedi were no longer trusted. Under strict orders, Damien, his family, and many of his apprentices were exiled and forbidden from involving with the affairs of the Jedi Order. In their exile, Damien often ventured to several parts of the galaxy, where he formed many Jedi initiations, and affiliating with the Order in secret, until it's collapse in 138 ABY.
While scourging the universe, Damien encountered the Lost Tribe of the Sith, where he met Luke Skywalker once more. Due to their presence in the Force, the tribe saw them as a threat, and not hoping to endanger anyone else, the two split ways, but were stalked by the Sith, where to which, would form an alliance between the two, that led for the two sides to fight Abeloth a dark side entity. Shortly after allying himself with the tribe, Damien kept his guard at all times, knowing that one day they would turn on them. After having a short alliance, Damien and his allies then repelled the Sith threat, and with the help of Darh Krayt, defeated Abeloth, preventing another disaster that could endanger the galaxy.
After having a short alliance, Damien left and traveled the galaxy, participating in new missions, alliances and wars, eventually making himself a home on the world of Ossus with his family, which was the native planet to Anakin Skywalker's Descendant, Kol Skywalker. During that time, Damien fought on a three decade long war to defend the planet from invaders, and did so. For the next six decades, Damien protected and served the New Jedi Order as Grand Master, while also fighting off new enemies. Unfortunately, they were drawn out during Darth Kryat's rule, forcing them to fight once more. Following the death of Darth Kryat at the hands of Cade Skywalker, Damien returned to Chandrila with his family, where he joined his wife and family. For the last years of his life, Damien fought in several battles for Chandrila.
In 140 ABY, Damien passed away and became one with the Force, joining his wife, mother, and father. Following his death, the leadership of the Knights Family was passed on to his son Matthew Knights.
Early Life (38 BBY)
- "This power is unlike no other Alath."
- "Indeed. He is the strongest one of this family."
- "His abilities in both the light side and dark side will be unmatched. The only one who can defeat him will be the Chosen One.
- —Derek and Alath reflect on the power of their son Damien
Damien was born into the Knights Family, and grew up in the Knights Mansion on Haruun Kal. He and his grandfather would spend countless hours training, preparing Damien to take over the leadership of the Knights Family. Damien spent ten years on Haruun Kal, before he and his parents moved to Coruscant to begin official Jedi training in the Jedi Temple. Under the tutelage of Jedi Master Mace Windu, Damien exceedingly learned the ways of the Force. During this time, he made good friends with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Anakin Skywalker, Plo Koon, Shaak Ti and Jedi Battlemaster Cin Drallig who helped Damien develop his Lightsaber skills. When he had the chance, Damien would often go to the archives to read into his studies, including the history of the Order, weapons defense as well as piloting.
Jedi Training (28-22 BBY)
"Simple, yet efficient. A padawan is as strong as he or she looks. Some people are too ignorant to believe that."
- —Damien Knights to his fellow padawans
Around a year later, when Damien was ten years old in the year of 28 BBY, he started to learn the Jedi ways by Mace Windu. Damien was taught all the aspects of the force which were Core, Control, Sense, and Alter by his Grandfather, Jūshirō Knights and Mace Windu. He then was first trained in the arts of the Jar'Kai by his mother, and the Makashi, by his father In time, certain forms of the Ataru, Niman, and Juyo were amplified to his skill. His father also trained him in martial arts. As time went by Damien, started to become a very powerful Jedi in 24 BBY, to which once he was fourteen, Damien showed complete mastery of the Jar'Kai and the Makashi forms. Damien also showed mastery in the Shien / Djem So form as time went by, but was finished by his grandfather Jūshirō Knights, because he had more experience with this form.
When Damien finished his lightsaber training, he took a blood test for the Council, determining how many Midi-chlorian counts were in him. Soon when the results arrived, the Council found out that Damien had approximately 19,800 Midi-chlorian counts per cell. The Council was amazed at how immense his Midi-chlorian counts were.
That same year, Damien learned of his unusual ability to see shatterpoints in the Force and how they would affect all of his future actions as well as the vulnerabilities of his opponents. With these unique abilities, he had glimpses of parts of his future.
Over the next decade and a half, Damien went on many notable missions that included his first visit to his homeworld, Haruun Kal (during which he learned his native Korun language).
The Clone Wars (22 BBY-19 BBY)
Battle of Geonosis
—Damien Knights, about to engage B2 Super Battle Droids and Geonosians
Shortly afterwards, it became apparent that a full-fledged military conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems would occur. Kenobi was captured by the Confederacy on Geonosis and had been prepared to be executed. Damien and Windu met with Yoda at the Senate, and watched as Jar Jar Binks bestowed emergency powers upon Palpatine, granting him the power to use the Grand Army of the Republic.
Having learned of this, Damien Knights and Mace Windu, without waiting for the clone army to be put at the Republic's disposal, led a Jedi strike force to Geonosis. Windu, along with Damien, and Luminara Unduli, destroyed Geonosian gun emplacements blocking the way to the arena in his TX-130S fighter tank. When Kenobi, Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala were brought to the Geonosis arena, Damien and Windu and their Jedi revealed themselves to Count Dooku, the leader of the Confederacy, who was personally overseeing the planned execution.
Damien and Windu personally confronted Dooku and his bodyguard, Jango Fett, in the former's private viewing booth. At that moment, Windu viewed Dooku as the shatterpoint of the entire Separatist movement, which meant striking Dooku down would theoretically end the imminent clone war before it even began. However, Windu's prior attachments to Dooku clouded his judgment, and Windu was promptly distracted by a squad of super battle droids before being flung into the arena by Fett's flamethrower. A heated but short battle followed, during which Windu decapitated Fett.
Eventually, the Jedi were outnumbered by Separatist battle droids, but Master Yoda and the clone troopers rescued the Jedi. After that, Windu, Damien, and the other surviving Jedi joined the battle as military commanders. Windu again took the controls of his tank and was moving to intercept Count Dooku when three of Dooku's Dark Acolytes confronted him in their own vehicles. Windu was able to defeat all three of them, but the delay prevented him from reaching Dooku.
Windu's failure to strike down Dooku when he had the chance haunted him for some time afterwards, since Dooku's escape effectively neutralized the Count's position as the war's shatterpoint. While many Jedi were haunted by traumatic nightmares about the Battle of Geonosis, Windu was faced with a recurring dream in which he killed Dooku before dying an honorable death at the hands of Jango Fett. As stated in his personal journals, Windu viewed his own reality of preventing the Clone Wars as his nightmare.
In the aftermath of Geonosis, Windu handed the title of Master of the Order to Yoda, who held it in addition to that of Grand Master. Also, Windu spoke with Yoda and Kenobi in the Jedi High Council chamber, and he learned from Kenobi that while he was Dooku's prisoner he learned hundreds of senators were under the influence of Sith Lord, Darth Sidious.
Battle of Christophsis
- "Damien Knights, reporting for duty."
- ―Damien, as he greets Anakin Skywalker for the first time
When Christophsis was invaded by the Separatists, they put out a call for help to the Republic, and Damien, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi were quickly dispatched to aid the planet, along with Commander Cody and Captain Rex. They set up defense in two towers and prepared as the droid forces advanced, seemingly unaware of the Jedi's presence. However, the droid army suddenly split up, and before Kenobi knew what was happening, droids arrived in his tower and started to attack. Skywalker called Hawk for an evacuation, and he and Rex proceeded to aid Kenobi. They managed to escape, and also managed to steal a tactical droid's head.
However, the tactical droid did nothing but confirm that the Separatists knew of the Jedi's location. Damien suspected that someone in their squad had turned suit and betrayed the Republic. Kenobi and Damien instructed Cody and Rex to find the traitor while they went on a secret mission behind enemy lines. On the way, they discovered that an increasing number of droids were watching them but not attempting to fire, and Damien concluded that they were being led into a trap. Upon arrival, they encountered Asajj Ventress, and the three engaged in a duel. The Jedi managed to knock Ventress down, but she merely used her lightsabers to cut through the floor, pushing the Jedi a floor down. Ventress taunted them before leading them to see a complete army of droids preparing to attack the city. The Jedi escaped on STAPs, and Ventress ordered General Whorm Loathsom to march on the city before leaving.
Upon returning to the Republic base, Damien, Skywalker, and Kenobi discovered that Rex and Cody had found Slick to be the traitor. Skywalker questioned why Slick would betray his brothers, and Slick replied that it was the Jedi who kept his brothers enslaved. Cody and Rex, however, said that if he loved his brothers, he wouldn't put them at risk, and Slick was taken away to lockup.
Damien and Skywalker managed to fend off the first wave of droids, and sent their shuttle back for reinforcements. A second wave of droids soon advanced, and while Kenobi and Cody drew the droids' attention, Damien, Skywalker, Rex and Torrent Company took out the advancing tri-droids. This, along with the Republic's use of heavy cannons, forced Loathsom to retreat.
Battle of Teth
- "Damien Knights. I've heard a lot about you, but don't expect to get out of here alive."
"Asajj Ventress. Don't think this is gonna be an easy fight."
- ―Damien Knights and Asajj Ventress
Damien Knights arrived on Teth immediately, and found Rex and the army heavily outnumbered by battle droids. With his reinforcements, the battle was then even again while he went to search for Skywalker, R2-D2 and Tano. Unfortunately, he ran into Asajj Ventress whom he battled through the B'omarr Monastery. Eventually slicing through her saberstaff, throwing away one half, and offered her the chance to surrender. Ventress gave up the fight and called for a Vulture droid to rescue her.
Returning to his troops, he later learned that Skywalker had taken a B-Wing-like ship called the Twilight and had flown to Tatooine where he and Tano had battled Dooku and IG-100 Magna Guards, before giving Jabba's son back to him. After fending off the droids, he and Yoda took gunships to pick up the Jedi team, and Jabba confirmed passage through his routes.
Battle of Krant
Following the destruction of the Trade Federation operation on Aereen, Damien Knights, Echuu Shen-Jon, and Naat Reath moved on to invade the planet Krant.
Once on Krant, Echuu and Damien's men encountered a number of Wookiees who had escaped imprisonment by the Confederacy. They went on to destroy several factories producing Decimators, and even encountered a fully operational one, which proved very difficult to defeat. Soon afterwads, Naat was kidnapped by Sev'rance Tann. Allying themselves with the Wookiees, Damien, Echuu, and the Republic gathered their army at an old Wookiee base and wiped out the droid armies.
When Damien and Echuu found Naat, Tann appeared and Echuu and Naat fought a long and fierce duel. Echuu let his emotions control him, and eventually defeated her through the aid of the dark side of the Force. When the dying Tann continued to taunt him, Echuu attempted to strike the final blow, but Naat stopped him and helped him to regain control of his emotions. She urged him that they should return to the Jedi Temple. However, Echuu realized that it wasn't his Jedi training that defeated Tann, it was the strong presence of the dark side within him, and he knew that it would forever be part of his destiny.
Sending Damien and Naat back to Coruscant, Echuu began a self-imposed exile on Krant, an exile that would continue through the Great Jedi Purge and into the early years of the Galactic Civil War.
Battle of Haruun Kal
- "There's no need to win, we only have to fight."
- ―Damien Knights
The Haruun Kal Crisis began six months after the battle of Geonosis with the dispatching of Senior Jedi Councilman Mace Windu and Senior Jedi General Damien Knights to their home planet of Haruun Kal. A holovid recovered by the Republic had shown Master Depa Billaba, who had been dispatched by the Council to train the Korunnai natives against the Separatist-backed Balawai settlers, in a state of what appeared to be bloodthirsty insanity. Billaba had been sent to the planet because although its location was of strategic importance for trade, the Republic was not yet ready to commit to a full offensive against the world. After surviving an assassination attempt orchestrated by a treasonous Republic agent and journeying upcountry to confront Billaba, Damien and Mace led the Korunnai troops, in concert with clone reinforcements under the command of CRC-09/571from the Republic transport Halleck, against the Balawai militia.
They moved against the capital city of Pelek Baw and using an ingenious strategy that combined sneaking in transports down the path of a waterfall, eventually managed to corner Balawai militia Colonel Lorz Geptun. Despite a last-minute betrayal by a number of elite Korunnai soldiers led by the dark Korunnai Kar Vastor, Windu forced Geptun to surrender the system and shut down attacking droids. This victory came at a heavy cost, however, as Billaba fell into a possibly self-induced coma at the end of the battle from which it was believed she never recovered.
Battle of Ryloth
- Windu: "Surrender."
- Tambor: "General Windu, perhaps we can come to a compromise."
- Damien: "No compromises."
- Windu: "Not when I hold all the cards."
- ―Mace Windu captures Wat Tambor
After answering a plea from the Senate, the Jedi Council sent Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano to breach the heavy Separatist blockade around the planet of Ryloth so as to make way for a ground assault aimed at freeing the Twi'lek people from Separatist occupation.
When the initial engagement with the blockade proved unsuccessful, resulting in huge losses on the side of the Republic, Master Windu and Damien Knights warned Skywalker that he was allocated only a single planetary rotation of Ryloth to breach the blockade, as the invasion needed to move forward with or without having broken the Separatist's defenses. Windu told Skywalker that they would have to postpone the invasion. As such, Skywalker and Tano utilized less than conventional tactics to defeat the Separatist warships; making way for the forces led by Masters Windu and Kenobi to begin their ground assault of the oppressed planet.
Kenobi and Ghost Company set off to land at the village of Nabat, which the Jedi planned on using as a landing point. However, proton cannons from below attacked their Acclamator assault ships above, and after Clone Commander Ponds reported that the guns were breaking through their shields, Windu ordered Kenobi to get the hostages out of harm's way, destroy the guns and allow the transports to land. Kenobi was later successful, and after the transports landed, the Jedi and the clone troopers set off for the capital city of Lessu to retake it and free the planet.
Damien and Windu along with Commander Ponds, Lightning Squadron, and the rest of his troops and AT-TEs, despite Separatist forces trying to slow their forces. Windu told Chancellor Palpatine and Senator Orn Free Taa that their forces were stretched too thin for an all out attack on Lessu. To accomplish this, Damien and Windu were forced to rely on their considerable negotiation skills, as they knew they would require the aid of Cham Syndulla; leader of the Twi'lek freedom fighters. However, Syndulla loathed to negotiate with the Republic as he did not trust Ryloth's Senator Orn Free Taa, while Taa himself feared that Syndulla planned to seize power. After learning that the Separatists had begun to bomb innocent Twi'lek villages, Syndulla at least agreed to talk with Senator Taa.
Windu acted as moderator during the talks, and ultimately was able to form an alliance between the two out of their mutual wish to see their people free. Syndulla then added his forces to Windu's and the pair managed to retake Lessu from Tambor. In addition, Damien and Windu managed to capture the fiendish Separatist leader. Damien and Windu, alongside commander Ponds, watched the victory parade in the city in satisfaction.
Battle of Quell
- "Take care of that clanker! I'll be aboard Aayla's cruiser."
- ―Skywalker to Tano
When Jedi General Aayla Secura was attacked by the Separatists, the Resolute was sent to help her. Arriving above Quell, Damien Knights, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano went on gunships to land on the cruiser, but Skywalker used a rocket droid to land on the cruiser. Skywalker called a frigate for an evacuation of the cruiser, and met up with Secura and Bly with Damien and Tano. However, increasing Separatist fire caused a raging inferno to run through the cruiser, and Skywalker sacrificed himself to save the others, severely injuring himself in the process. Secura and Damien managed to get him on board the frigate, but as they prepared to dock with the Resolute to give Skywalker medical attention, an assault by several Vulture droids caused the hyperdrive to accidentally activate, and they were forced to detach from the cruiser.
Tano piloted the frigate to narrowly avoid hitting a star, but the ship was forced to crash-land on the remote world of Maridun. Leaving Damien and Rex to watch over Skywalker, Secura, Tano and the rest of the clones went in search of the planet's inhabitants for medical support for Skywalker. While Rex was taking a break Damien was attacked by a Mastiff phalone, but managed to fend it off. Just as a second group of the creatures attacked Damien, Skywalker, and Rex, Tano arrived with Bly and Wag Too, who was a healer belonging to the pacifist Lurmen colony. They managed to fend off the creatures and brought Skywalker to the Lurmen village.
Defense of Maridun
- "Let me stop the Separatists from disturbing your peace."
- ―Damien to the Lurmen Village on Maridun
When Separatists arrived on Maridun, Tee Watt Kaa, leader of the Lurmen, accused the Jedi of bringing the war to their planet. Skywalker, Tano, Rex and Bly left the village so that the Lurmen would not pay the consequence of their presence. After discovering that the Separatists were planning on testing a new weapon on the Lurmen, the group took a shuttle back to the Lurmen village to defend them. The group set up shields and managed to survive a blast from the weapon, as well as the first wave of droids. However, the second wave of droids managed to penetrate the shield and destroyed it. As the Separatists prepared to use the Defoliator again, Damien arrived and managed to destroy it, along with capturing General Lok Durd. As the Jedi prepared to leave, a fleet of three Venator-class cruisers arrived on the planet: Admiral Yularen was apparently able to find them on his own.
Battle of Felucia
The Republic forces on Felucia under Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi, Damien Knights, Anakin Skywalker, and Commander Ahsoka Tano were surrounded by Separatist battle droids that were overrunning their positions. During the battle, Skywalker sent Tano on patrol into the jungle. The Separatist also set up a blockade around the planet. Thus, the jedi and their troops knew they had to retreat.
Evacuation from Felucia
- "Come on, grunts! We are leaving!"
- ―Captain Rex ordering his men onto the gunships
Jedi General Plo Koon and his forces then arrived. Koon's jedi cruisers were able to blow a hole in the Separatist's blockade. Koon, in his starfighter, along with Warthog accompanied the gunships to evacuate Kenobi's and Skywalker's forces. Koon then took on the Vulture droids while Warthog protected the gunships. The gunships were able to land and started to evacuate Kenobi's and Skywalker's forces.
However, Tano refused to be evacuated, now that her patrol had the battle droids on the run. She continued pushing the droids back, but Skywalker convinced her to retreat when he said the droids were regrouping and were about to overrun her position. Thus, Tano and her troops abandoned their vehicles and boarded the gunships.
Return to Geonosis
- Damien: "Seventy-five, Anakin, my total kills are seventy-five."
- Skywalker: "Hmmmm....."
- Damien: "That was too easy if you ask me."
- Skywalker: "[pause] I'll beat you next time"
- Damien: "We'll see."
Although Geonosis had been captured by the Republic at the onset of the Clone Wars, resistance from the Geonosian natives and their loyalty to Count Dooku proved stronger than the Jedi Order anticipated, and the Jedi soon discovered Separatist leader Poggle the Lesser had established several battle droid foundries on the planet capable of creating thousands of weapons. The Jedi Council dispatched High Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ki-Adi-Mundi with Jedi Generals Damien Knights and Anakin Skywalker would lead the Grand Army's attack on the primary droid foundry.
Tasked with the challenge of landing on the planet and establishing a staging area, the Jedi mounted a four-pronged attack on the Geonosian defenses in what became known as the battle of Point Rain, with Jedi Generals Ki-Adi-Mundi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Damien Knights, and Anakin Skywalker each leading an assault force. After establishing a landing zone at Point Rain, a site close to the factories' Ray Shield Fortress generator, the Republic army regrouped and disabled the factories' ray shield, making way for the rest of the clone trooper forces to safely land.
While Poggle attempted to retake Point Rain and his Ray Shield Fortress, his main droid foundry was targeted by the Jedi. In order to eliminate the factory, Generals Damien, Skywalker, and Luminara Unduli battled the facility's droid defenses in open warfare while their respective Padawans, Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee, sneaked into the facility via the catacombs beneath it. As their Masters battled Poggle's army—including several newly designed super tanks—on the bridge leading to the factory, the Padawans' infiltration of the foundry was cut short when they were intercepted by Poggle and his tactical droid, TX-21. With their explosive charges stolen, Tano and Offee used a supertank to blow up the facility's reactor and collapse the factory from the inside. Damien, Skywalker, and Unduli rescued their Padawans from the debris once the foundry had fallen. Despite the Republic's destruction of other key factories, Poggle remained at large, having escaped his primary foundry before its eradication.
As the Jedi undertook the cleanup of Geonosis, they launched a campaign to find and apprehend Poggle. Unduli spearheaded the search and followed Poggle to the abandoned Progate Temple, where she was captured by the archduke and taken to the lair of Geonosian Queen Karina the Great in the catacombs below. Tracking Unduli's last known location, Kenobi, Damien, and Skywalker set out with a clone platoon to rescue her. Battling hordes of "undead" Geonosian warriors who were being reanimated by the queen's brain worm parasites, the Jedi and their troops found Unduli in Karina's lair. Although Karina wished to induct Unduli and her comrades into her ranks of mind-controlled warriors, Kenobi, Damien, Skywalker, and their men were able to save Unduli and take Poggle into custody. The Jedi and their troops destroyed much of the queen's lair during their escape, killing Karina the Great and burying her warriors beneath the temple, and the Republic's recapture of Geonosis was secured.
- "I'm afraid we have a complication."
"Don't we always?"
- ―Ki-Adi-Mundi and Damien Knights
As they prepared to take Poggle back to Coruscant, Damien and Ki-Adi-Mundi received a transmission from Windu on Dantooine. Although Windu's forces had fended off an attack there, they had suffered heavy casualties and were in immediate need of medical supplies from a medical station at Ord Cestus. Damien informed the others, who decided to send Tano and Barriss Offee to pick up the supplies while Damien, Mundi, Kenobi and Unduli took Poggle back to Coruscant to be interrogated. Later, on the Venator-class Star Destroyer making the voyage back to Coruscant, Skywalker informed Damien, Mundi, Kenobi, Unduli and Captain Rex that the ship carrying Tano and Offee has been infected by Geonosian brain worms. Skywalker later interrogated Poggle alone and learned the brain words were susceptible to cold temperatures. When Damien asked Skywalker how he convinced Poggle to talk, the Jedi Knight declined to answer, and Damien was aware that Skywalker used violent methods to achieve his means. After that day Damien and Mundi developed a strong Friendship.
Battle of Kamino
- "These droids are everywhere. It's about time I go on the offensive!"
- ―Damien Knights
After the Republic intercepted a message between General Grievous and Asajj Ventress discussing a planned attack on Kamino, Damien Knights, Shaak Ti, and Prime Minister Lama Su greeted Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Knight Anakin Skywalker when they arrived in Tipoca City with reinforcements. A Separatist fleet soon arrived and engaged the Republic blockade that defended Kamino. Damien and Shaak Ti monitored the progress of the battle from Tipoca City's control room alongside Kenobi, Lama Su, Captain Rex and Commander Cody. They noted that the Separatist fleet was not large enough to defeat the blockade, and ordered Skywalker to lead the Republic's fighters in assaulting the enemy. Several Munificent-class star frigates were destroyed protecting Grievous' flagship, with their debris crashing in the ocean near Tipoca City. Kenobi became concerned that the battle was too easy, and left Damien and Ti and the others to investigate the wreckage. He discovered Aqua droids assembling Trident-class assault ships underwater, but was unable to warn the city before the droids began their assault, which was led personally by both Grievous and Ventress.
When the control room came under assault by several Aqua droids, Damien and Ti quickly dispatched them and contacted the other Jedi, noting the attacking droids were spread thin throughout the city and that the Republic needed to press their counterattack quickly. While Kenobi engaged Grievous and Skywalker hunted down Ventress, who attempted to steal a genetic sample of the clone's DNA, Damien and Ti led the clone troopers in pushing the droids back to Tipoca City's main hanger, contacting Cody to inform him on the progress of the battle. The remaining droids were soon destroyed and the Separatist fleet retreated, although both Grievous and Ventress managed to escape from Kamino.
Juma 9 & Battle of Behpour
- Obi-Wan Kenobi: "He's gone!"
- Damien Knights: "Aww man and it was just getting fun."
- Mace Windu: "He's defeated but not destroyed."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi, Damien Knights, and Mace Windu on Dooku's defeat in their duel.
Shortly afterwards, Damien Knights and Mace Windu were sent to Juma 9 in order to rescue Jedi Masters Plo Koon and Obi-Wan Kenobi with the aid of Kit Fisto and clone private CP-6824, while Commander Ponds fought on the outside of the station itself.
They eventually took over the station once more from droid control and the three Jedi were rescued. Shortly after that, the three Jedi held a briefing with Luminara Unduli, Aayla Secura, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano who were on Alzoc III, Coruscant and Ryloth respectively. They learned from Masters Unduli and Secura that a Separatist ship crashed on Alzoc III and an unknown thief had infiltrated the ship and stole a device that could prove deadly. In addition, they reported that they had encountered Asajj Ventress.
During the briefing, they received an urgent communication from Senator Amidala who stated that she had discovered a massive Separatist facility on Behpour under the command of the Sith Lord Count Dooku. Unfortunately, she could say no more as she was captured. The Jedi, before breaking communication, organized an attack on the foundry.
With Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi diverting attention to themselves in one part of the facility, Damien, Windu, and Padawan Tano waited for the shields to the facility to be taken down to allow the Jedi and their forces to attack and invade the factory. Once the shields were down, Damien, Windu, and Tano led the charge and struck at the facility after using AT-TE walkers to get there quicker.
Once inside the facility itself, Damien, Windu, and Kenobi confronted Dooku himself. After a brief conversation and eliminating his personal guards, the three dueled Dooku. At the end of the duel, Dooku fell below the platform. Damien remarked he was gone but Windu said he was not dead. With that, they boarded the Twilight and left the facility. Soon after, Skywalker, Tano and the freed Amidala joined them.
Battle of Malastare
Damien and Mace Windu later led Republic forces during the Battle of Malastare alongside Anakin Skywalker, pushing to drive Separatist forces out of the system and secure a treaty with the Dugs that would grant them access to their valuable fuel. At some point during the Malastare campaign, Dr. Sionver Boll developed an electro-proton bomb that would wipe out all electronic life but leave living organisms fully functional. They tested the technology out with outstanding results, although the resulting explosion site collapsed into a crater. Damie and Windu led the investigation squad into the crater, and was the first to discover the presence of the Zillo Beast, a creature long thought to be extinct by the Dugs.
Leading his troops in a quick retreat aboard a gunship, Windu organized an impromptu council with himself, Damien, Skywalker, Boll, Doge Nakha Urus and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to discuss their options in dealing with the creature. While the Jedi were in favor of preserving the beast's innocent life, the Dugs merely wished to see the dangerous creature destroyed forever. Taking the discussion to a private area away from Urus, Palpatine suggested that concentrated stun beams should be used to incapacitate the beast, leading the Dugs to believe it dead, and then transport it somewhere in the Outer Rim for research on its lightsaber-resistant scales. Damien, Windu, and Skywalker agreed with the plan, although Urus had already begun his own mission to dump toxic fuels into the beast's crater to kill it. Despite Damien and Windu's threats towards Urus, the argument between the pair was negated when the beast clambered out of the pit and began to terrorize the Republic camps. It was brought down by the stun rays and, in a last-minute switch of orders from Palpatine, transported to Coruscant for research.
Damien, Windu, and Skywalker followed the beast to Coruscant, where the former approached Kenobi in the hopes of starting a movement against the Supreme Chancellor and demanding the release of the creature. Although Kenobi was able to convince Skywalker and Senator Amidala to speak to Palpatine, they were too late, and the zillo beast escaped from its constraints, making a beeline towards the Senate chambers. Windu, alongside Damien, Kenobi, Yoda, and Aayla Secura as well as Captain Rex, oversaw the Republic's defense of Coruscant against the beast, commanding stun tanks to subdue the beast. Despite Windu's best efforts, the beast was unable to be peacefully tranquilized, and it was killed by concentrated toxin-bombs.
Battle of Brentaal IV
- "Agen Kolar? Do you live?"
"At the moment, young one. How many more moments is questionable."
- ―Damien Knights and Agen Kolar
With the Clone Wars begun, Damien accompanied his Jedi friend Agen Kolar who was made a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic. Ever a follower of the Council's will and a strong believer in the Jedi's duty to the Republic, he disdained those Jedi who opposed the decision to take an active role in the war. When Mace Windu discovered that the esteemed lightsaber instructor Sora Bulq had fallen to the dark side and joined Dooku's growing ranks of Separatist-allied Dark Acolytes, he warned Damien and Kolar of the betrayal and Bulq's history with Vaapad.
Five months into the war, Damien and Agen Kolar were assigned to retake Brentaal IV, a Core World located at a key hyperspace transit point, from an insurrection led by local clan leader Shogar Tok. Damien and Kolar, under the command of Jedi Council members Plo Koon and Shaak Ti, landed their clone troops on the planet, but the Republic's intelligence was faulty; Tok's ion cannons were operational and shielded, tearing the Republic landing force to pieces. A quarter of the overall forces, along with Jedi General Shon Kon Ray, were lost almost immediately. Damien and Kolar were hard-pressed, though they retained many of their soldiers.
Ti found sanctuary in a prison, where she recruited several prisoners to aid her in infiltrating Tok's fortress via a sewer connection between the two facilities. In order to help her accomplish that, she ordered Damien and Kolar to lead an assault on the north face of Tok's citadel. Once she was inside, Koon, commanding the Republic fleet in orbit of Brentaal IV, would retreat and return in four hours, by which time she hoped to have sabotaged the defenses or captured Tok. Damien and Kolar, on the surface, were given the option to retreat or surrender.
When that time came, Damien and Kolar surrendered, along with their troops. They were brought before Tok and the holographic presence of Dooku, who interrogated them as to Ti's whereabouts. Kolar briefly resisted, earning him a beating at Tok's hands, before he testified that he had felt her die in battle through the Force. Damien and Kolar were imprisoned while Tok's forces searched for her body. There they remained until Ti succeeded, at which point their troops were freed by two of her recruited prisoners: Kolar's old ally, Jedi Master Quinlan Vos; and the mercenary Sagoro Autem. Ti was badly wounded after a betrayal by one prisoner, though, and Damien and Kolar took command on the ground in the aftermath while Ti recuperated in a bacta tank.
Battle of Iceberg III
"So you're General Grievous? You just might be challenge for me."
"Hahahahaha, Damien Knights! I've heard a lot about you... Even though I'm not here for you, I'll just destroy you and add your lightsabers to my collection!"
―Damien Knights and General Grievous before dueling
During the 2nd Battle of Orto Plutonia, General Grievous was making his advance in the Mon Calamari System in order to take over Mon Calamari. After the 2nd Battle of Orto Plutonia, Damien and his forces rushed back to Coruscant for the briefing. Anakin Skywalker and Plo Koon explained that The Mon Calamari provide a special type of ore that strengthens the Republic Cruiser's armor. If Mon Calamari was captured, The Separatists could use that for for themselves. King Yos Kolina who was on Coruscant via hologram explained that Grievous was on the advance and that only 1 planet was left before Grievous's fleet was at Mon Calamari. A frozen planet named Iceberg III. Damien and his forces went with Plo Koon and Commander Wolfe to Iceberg III top stop Grievous's fleet. Damien commanded a star-fighter squadron while Plo Koon's cruisers broke through the blockade.
The Republic forces then began landing on the planet. Commander Wolfe then tasked Damien to pilot a gunship and take some ARC Troopers to defend a Republic base that was established in the early days of The Clone Wars while Commander Wolfe and the rest of his forces marched to the base. After making it through the droid army, Damien and his ARC troopers made a defenses around the base. A few hours later, Commander Wolffe arrived with his forces with some refugees that needed to get off the planet. Plo Koon was space battling Grievous' fleet and provided a temporary opening. While Commander Wolfee, Ghost and Gun evacuated the refugees, Damien and some of his troops made some turrets and waited for Grievous's forces to come.
After several hours of fighting The refugees were evacuated and the droid army was repelled. Grievous then decided to face Damien himself. While Commander Wolfe was cleaning up the mess. Damien told them to stand back while he dealt with Grievous. Grievous and Damien dueled in a ferocious lightsaber duel, but in the end, Damien managed to defeat Grievous. Damien requested that he surrender and never return but Grievous replied saying he would never to surrender to anyone. He then managed to escape in his and retreat. Iceberg III was safe and Grievous's advance was halted. Damien then met with Plo Koon and Commander Wolfe in The Executive hanger. Plo Koon brought bad news with him, during the battle Grievous sent an agent, Riff Tamson to assassinate King Yos Kilina. There was now instability between The Mon Calamari and The Quarren due to the fact that only King Yos Kilina could manage to keep peace between them. Prince Lee Char was next in line for the throne, however, The Quaren stated that there should be a Quaren King until Lee Char was old enough to rule the throne. Damien and his forces then went back to Coruscant for their next mission.
Knight of the Republic
- "Step forward, Padawan. Damien Knights, by the right of the Council, by the will of the Force, dub thee I do… Jedi… Knight of the Republic."
Prodigiously talented in the Force, Damien passed the trials early, and continued to progress through the ranks of the order by achieving the title of Jedi Knight and, at the remarkably young age of seventeen. After his heroic actions at the Battle of Iceberg III and defeating General Grievous, Damien was endowed with the title of Jedi Knight. It was a controversial decision; Mace WIndu and Ki-Adi-Mundi openly and zealously supported him, while Oppo Rancisis and Adi Gallia questioned whether Damien was mature enough. But in the end, the decision fell to Yoda, who decided to have him Knighted in a secret ceremony.
Rescuing Master Piell
After Master Even Piell was captured due to his knowledge of the Nexus Route, Skywalker, along with Master Kenobi, Damien Knights, Captain Rex, Commander Cody, ARC Troopers Echo and Fives and three other clone troopers, was sent to rescue Master Piell from the "impenetrable" Separatist prison, the Citadel. Skywalker forbade his Padawan from coming on the mission, saying it would be too dangerous for her. When the rescue party reached the hangar of the Citadel, Skywalker devised a way to get past their scanners by being frozen in carbonite, thus stifling their life-readings. After the team was frozen, they were loaded up onto the transport ship by R2-D2's battle droid squadron. The shuttle was able to get through thanks to Skywalker's strategy. When Skywalker was thawed out, he found, to his surprise, that Tano had disobeyed orders and followed him. The team reluctantly took her along.
When they reached the Citadel, the team was successful in rescuing Master Piell just before he would have lost his good eye to an interrogator droid. Skywalker asked if Piell found the Nexus Route. Piell told him that he memorized half the information while his captain, Wilhuff Tarkin, memorized the other half as a precaution in case he cracked under the interrogation. Skywalker and the rest of the team went to free Tarkin. On their way, they were ambushed by commando droids. The team was successful in defeating the first of commando droids, but when the second squad of commando droids came, Osi Sobeck activated magnets in the ceiling, ripping the team's weapons away and trapping Skywalker by attracting his prosthetic arm. As the rest of the team scrambled to defeat the droids with telekinesis and their bare hands, Skywalker, despite being brutally electrocuted by Sobeck, was able to get his lightsaber and disable the magnet.
After the team defeated the commando droids, they rescued Tarkin and the rest of the officers. Skywalker and Kenobi then decided to split up to prevent the enemy from getting either half of the information. Kenobi took Piell and a couple of his officers with his group and Skywalker took Captain Tarkin and a couple of officer with him. Skywalker was then able to cut into an old tunnel. Skywalker was glad that things were going according to plan, though Tarkin expressed some skepticism about this plan and didn't seem grateful for rescuing him. Skywalker told Tarkin that he reserved his trust to those who understood the meaning of Gratitude. As Skywalker and his team made their way through the tunnels, Skywalker watched their rear, leaving his apprentice leading the team. When they reached a dead end, Skywalker destroyed a Recon Droid and then fought against Super battle droids and commando droids armed with shields. Skywalker, Tano and the team were able to destroy the commando droids and blast the dead end open. Skywalker and his team then went into a fuel line. Along the way, Skywalker found that he and Tarkin believed that the Jedi didn't take the initiative and did whatever it took. When they reached the exit of the fuel line they were ambushed by battle droids and Crab droids. Luckily, Skywalker was able to destroy them by throwing a grenade into the fuel line. Skywalker and his team then moved to Plan B, to meet up with Kenobi's team trying to reach the shuttle at the airfield. After the shuttle was destroyed, both teams fell back to some caves.
After Master Piell contacted the Jedi Temple, Skywalker, Damien and the rest of team moved onto to the rendezvous point. When Skywalker's and Kenobi's team reached the lava lake, they were attacked by a large battle droid force. While R2's droid team held off the enemy, Skywalker went down a cliff with the rest of the team down to the lake's shore and escapes into a set of gullies. As they move on, Skywalker warned Tarkin not to upset Master Piell if he wanted to keep his career. Tarkin stated that the Supreme Chancellor would support him, to which Anakin stated that he too knew the Chancellor well.
When Tano asked Skywalker why Piell would share half the information with Tarkin. Skywalker told Tano that Tarkin felt that the Jedi shouldn't be running the war, to which he replied that the Jedi were keepers of the peace, not soldiers. As Skywalker and Damien discussed Tarkin's haughty attitude towards the Jedi, they noticed the anooba trailing them, along with a squad of STAPs. Skywalker, Kenobi and R2 lured the creatures into an ambush, but the rest of the team itself was ambushed by crab droids and another group of STAPs. When Skywalker and Kenobi rejoined the team, Padawan Tano arrived carrying Master Piell's body, and told them that she had his half of the information. Skywalker, Kenobi and the rest of the team then took a brief moment to consign his body to the lava before moving on. When they reached the island, Skywalker and cody fired extension cables, but were then ambushed by Sobeck and his commando droids on STAPs. After Sobeck's death, Master Koon arrived and picked them up. When they returned to the Temple, Skywalker shook hands with Tarkin before he left. Skywalker then told Kenobi that they could use more men like him to help them win the war.
Return to Felucia
- "All I had out there was the force. It guided me back to you."
- ―Damien reflecting on his usage of the force.
Damien Knights, along with Anakin Skywalker, Padawan Tano, Master Plo Koon, and their clone officers Captain Rex and Commander Wolffe, traveled to Felucia to tend to reinforcements dispatched by General Grievous to an outpost to secure his hold on Felucia. Koon and Wolffe jumped in from one of the sides of outpost while Damien and Tano attacked from the rear. Skywalker and Rex, aided by Felucian scouts, would stage an ambush at the front of the outpost. When the outpost came under fire from the AT-TEs and Turbo Tanks, the droids were ambushed by Skywalker's men and the outpost was taken. When Skywalker asked one of Tano's men where she and Damien was, he was told that they were missing. Skywalker then proceeded to look for two, but Koon told Skywalker that he must return to Coruscant. At the Jedi Temple, Skywalker kept searching for them. Eventually, they found their own way back and Skywalker apologised to tjem for bringing them on the mission and not being too careful, but Tano thanked him for because of him training her she survived.
- "Those gungans are really something."
- ―Damien to Yoda.
Yoda, Damien Knights, and Mace Windu then made contact with Anakin Skywalker, Gial Ackbar and Senator Amidala who were on Dac to cool down tensions between the Mon Calamari and the Separatist aligned Quarren. When Kit Fisto and Ahsoka Tano went to aid their forces on the planet, they soon lost contact after the Republic was almost decimated by Separatist commander Riff Tamson.
As a result of this, the Jedi held a special session to discuss how to proceed. Saesee Tiin suggested that they find an underwater race in close proximity with an army to aid their allies, and Obi-Wan Kenobi pointed out Naboo. Yoda then contacted the Gungan boss, Lyonie, who dispatched Jar Jar Binks to lead the army to Mon Cala.
Mission to Carlac
- "When Wolffe said that the Mandalorian Death Watch were known for their hospitality, he wasn't kidding. (Laughs) They sure pack quite a fight. I love 'em."
- —Damien reflecting on Wolffe's words toward the Death Watch while on Carlac
Damien was sent on a mission by the Jedi Council to the winter planet of Carlac. In this mission, Damien would encounter the Death Watch group for the first time ever, whom he would quickly hate. After landing on Carlac, the only thing he could see was smoke, coming from homes that were burned to the ground at the hands of several Death Watch mercenaries. During the mission Damien led troopers in raiding the villages in order to free the Ming Po. Not much information is known about this mission due to it being so secret, but it is certain that Damien helped in liberating the villages.
Deployed to Umbara
- "Never thought I would be called for a mission like this."
- —Damien upon his arrival on Umbara
The work started with the heavily fortified Umbaran Airfield. Damien, Commander Gree, and the Green Company cleared out the inside, while the rest wiped out the remaining forces on the surface. There were also heavy cannons that could not be destroyed with traditional blasters, but Gree had an idea. When they finished clearing out the inside, he and Damien stole two Umbaran Hover Tanks and took out the heavy cannons. They would then proceed to destroy the Hover Tanks. They then moved on to an area occupied by Trandoshan Pirates led by the infamous Captain Dheeb. They were not very skilled in combat so they were wiped out within a matter of minutes. But Gree had overheard a few of them talking about an escaped Rancor. So the hunt was on. The next day, after getting some rest, Damien sent out a search party for the Rancor. They found it after a few hours of looking. It looked nothing like they expected. It was ice white with touches of blue and silver. It took quite a while for the squad to take him out. But they finally got the job done and headed back to the base. Apparently the Separatists had found out about their presence, because they started sending in ships full of droids. They scattered across a large portion of Umbara. But they were taken care of in a couple days. Damien thought his work on Umbara was done, but he was just getting started.
Just a few days after taking out the Separatist forces, Damien was made aware of underground bunkers occupied by Separatist and Umbaran forces. This was apparently where some had retreated to during the initial assault. The code names for these bunkers were Grek, Usk, and Krill. The work would start with Bunker Grek. Clearing out Bunker Grek turned out to be easier than anticipated. Not many troops were lost and it didn't take too long either. At the end, the squad met up with the Umbaran General known as Ennodius. He was the toughest of them all and had a different strategy. But the work was over when he was finished off by a surprise attack from behind as Damien gave the final blow. The next day brought Bunker Usk. This turned out to be the shortest and easiest of all the bunkers, taking only about ten minutes. They were met at the end by General Farr-Nees but they made short work of him. It was time to move on to the final bunker, the one known as Krill. This one was occupied by Umbarans, Separatists, and Trandoshans. The Trandoshans were still not very combat-ready and were taken care of quickly. Rather than an Umbaran General at the end, there were three Trandoshans. These seemed to be the only ones trained for combat. The first two were taken care of fairly easily, but the Commander was the toughest. He had some kind of weapon that would not be cut through by a lightsaber. So the battle was on. All of the Clone Troopers were moving out, and Damien and the Trandoshan Commander were the only beings in the bunker. As the fight went on, Damien noticed that this Trandoshan was very skilled in the arts of sword fighting. Damien started to worry for himself as he began to grow tired. But, the Trandoshan lost his concentration for one second, and this mistake would end the fight. He felt a painful blow to his arms, and as he looked down, he saw that his forearms were no longer attached to his body. He tried to get out of the fight but was impaled by Damien.
By this time Damien was ready to leave Umbara. He had been there for months. But then he sensed something through the Force. It was just the smallest tremor, but he knew it couldn't be ignored. So he went on yet another search. What he found stunned him and he could not believe he had not seen it before. It looked like an Ancient Sith Academy. The entry was surprisingly easy. There was a Holocron-shaped socket in the door. Luckily, he was carrying the Sith Holocron he had stolen from a Sith a while back. He inserted it and he was in.
He could not believe what was inside. There were hundreds of Sith Acolytes. However, he could tell they were not very well trained, because he made surprisingly quick work of them. He happened to venture onto a room where he met a training droid. Each time he would defeat one, another would come out. After defeating four, he continued on. Soon enough he met a Sith named Varad Zagg. He made fairly quick work of him as well. Around a couple more corners, he saw him. Darth Maul was standing in a room not very far away. He could sense that Maul had sensed him. He started walking toward the room. He had a very bad feeling about this.
Duel in the Sith Temple
- "Both of you shut your mouths and come at together."
- —Damien to Darth Maul and Savage Opress
Damien finally met with Darth Maul and exchanged a few brief words with him, declaring Maul a danger to galaxy and that he must be killed. Damien then pushed Maul and Savage Opress into a wall using the Force. After he released the brothers from his telekinetic grip, Damien summoned two of his lightsabers to combat them. Although the Sith brothers briefly managed to overwhelm Damien by having Savage push him into a wall, it was only temporary as Damien Force pushed them as well. Gaining the upper hand, Damien drove his opponents back, and the duel ended in the plaza outside the palace. After using the Force to temporarily incapacitate Maul, Damien dueled Opress alone, but in mere seconds Damien slashed Savage in the chest with his two lightsabers, nearly killing him. After Maul witnessed this, Damien explained to him that this is justice for Adi Gallia.
Maul angrily ignited his lightsaber and charged at Damien. After a brief, but vicious duel between the two, Damien disarmed Maul and brutally battered him against the floor and walls with telekinesis and escaped. Once he got out, he returned to the ship, but decided not fly off the planet yet, for he needed to rest. He went to sleep, but of course hid his ship, and cloaked it, so they wouldn't be sensed by the two Zabrak brothers. After sleeping for six hours, he started the ship, and then left the planet, returning to Coruscant. Once back on Coruscant, Damien reported on what happened and his failure to arrest Maul or Opress to the High Council.
Mission to Korriban
- "This planet is completely enveloped in the dark side of the Force. This is where Sith Lords dwells, as marks their burial ground."
- —Damien after landing on Korriban
Sometime after Umbara, Damien was sent to Korriban under orders by Grand Master Yoda, and his master Mace Windu. Damien was sent to Korriban because of a threatening message Damien accepted the mission, and departed to the native Sith controlled world of Korriban, in which he would go alone, to which he demanded. Arriving at the planet, Damien expected that he would be attacked by the native Sith species, but he wasn't. However, Damien quickly sensed the dark power, in which was what the whole planet consisted of.
Standing firm and ready, Damien pulled out his blades for defense, in case he was attacked. He walked for miles and met no attack, but he saw only that the Sith were watching ever so menacingly and threateningly. As he continued, one of the local Sith was a magician that specialized in showing future visions. This Sith casted a spell on Damien, that would make him see the future, which showed him a Sith Lord, that would be alive during the New Republic and New Jedi Order who would go on an attempt to kill him, his future wife, and future daughter. The vision showed the Sith Lord killing him and his family. Seeing the vision, Damien started to tremble and hallucinate, to the point leading him to go in a rage. Seeing this, the Sith magician told the various Sith not to attack, for they could use him in their favor to attack and kill the Jedi. Surrounding him, the Sith magician moved closer to him, and using his magic, he forced Damien down to his feet.
Still trembling, the magician spoke and told him that these moments would never occur unless he joined for he could prevent this. Damien didn't accept the proposal, but the magician who revealed himself to be Shankun continued on insisting, as Damien continued not to accept it. After various failed attempts Shankun struck him with Force lightning, but Damien blocked it and shook his head. Remarking on the creation of such illusions, Damien lifted Shankun with his own force lightning and slammed them against a nearby pillar. Grabbing the magician's lightsaber, Damien ignited it and threw it at Shankun who stood up just as it impaled him, killing him on impact. Smiling at the dead body, Damien remarked on how the dark side would never grab ahold of him, for he was a Jedi, and then entered his ship and left.
- "Vaapad is more than a fighting style. It is a state of mind, a path that leads through the penumbra of the dark side."
- ―Mace Windu
Sometime after his mission to Korriban Mace Windu tells Damien he was going to teach him Vaapad. Jedi Master Mace Windu, who developed Vaapad along with Weequay Jedi Sora Bulq, stated that Vaapad was an answer for Damien's weakness, allowing him to channel his own internal darkness into something positive.
Vaapad was described as more than a fighting style; it was a state of mind that led through the penumbra of the dark side, requiring the user to enjoy the fight, and relish the satisfaction of winning. Damien had to accept the fury of Mace Windu, transform it into one half of a superconducting loop, with the other half being the power of darkness inherent in the opponent. The form was also mentioned with a cautionary warning by the Jedi that use of Vaapad led the user perilously close to the dark side due to its focus on physical combat. Vaapad required a constant and sizable stream of Force use from the user, with a barely contained explosion of Force power essential to all variations of Form VII as another prerequisite for its use. The form's attacks appeared to be unconnected, its motions seemingly unpolished to an untrained observer. Mace Windu taught Damien that a Vaapad user's attacks would flow into each other with liquid precision, creating the constant near-invisible weave of energy which was the ready-stance of Vaapad. It was also possible to apply Vaapad in unarmed combat, with the user's arms becoming too fast to see, as well as in the use of dual lightsabers.
"I appreciate and respect the bravery that's within you guys."
—Damien Knights to the Onderon Rebels
On Onderon, which was Separatist-controlled, a group of rebels had arisen to take back the planet. Damien, Skywalker, Kenobi, and Tano went with Rex and some 501st men to aid the rebels and give them guidance. They taught the rebels sharpshooting, how to disable a droideka, and more tricks. A group of droids and AATs arrived to squash the rebels but were defeated, serving as the first test for the group. After this, Damien, Skywalker, Kenobi, and Rex with the 501st left for the war, but Tano stayed behind to lead the rebels, getting some guidance herself from Damien, Skywalker, and Kenobi. Tano and the rebels, led by Saw and Steela Gerra, eventually achieved victory with rocket launchers sent by Hondo Ohnaka and ordered by Skywalker. Tano returned to Coruscant following the funeral of Steela, who had perished during the battle.
Attack on the temple
- "Who could ever bomb something as sacred as this temple."
- —Damien to Anakin after recovering from the attack on the Jedi Temple
The attack on the Jedi Temple hangar left Damien injured, after he had docked his ship within the hangar. Damien was then visited by Anakin who received word on his injury, and thus was the only lucky Jedi who survived the blast, along with other clones and workers who were lucky enough to survive. When his Jedi friend arrived to talk, Damien had already gained consciousness. After a quick conversation, Anakin departed the infirmary. Damien later joined him, along with several other Jedi members of the Council, some members of the Senate, and Chancellor Palpatine. Among the dead Jedi, was one of Damien's closest friends, in which was a Jedi known by his parents, back when they were Jedi Knights years ago. After the funeral, Damien departed and started to walk the streets of Coruscant, wondering why someone would want to attack the temple, mostly that the attacker was the one who worked at the temple.
Plot to kidnap the Chancellor
After a meeting of the Jedi Council, Kenobi was "shot" by Rako Hardeen—a bounty hunter and marksman from the planet Concord Dawn—while walking through the streets of Coruscant at night with Damien, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano. Hardeen was hired by an anonymous client to "kill" Kenobi with a sniper rifle.
After shooting the Jedi in the chest and completing the job, Hardeen was pursued by Damien and Skywalker, but escaped on a speeder bike and with the aid of smoke grenades. Damien, Tano, and Skywalker attend Kenobi's funeral, believing him dead, and Skywalker swears to bring the perpetrator to justice.
After celebrating his high-profile kill at Trueping's cantina, his employer called him to a back room for payment. To his surprise, a very much alive Master Kenobi—having assumed Hardeen's appearance—and Master Windu arrest and incapacitate Hardeen for secret transport.
Meanwhile, during their investigation of the presumed killer, Skywalker and Damien find a presumably drunk "Rako Hardeen" at Trueping's, not knowing that it was really Kenobi in disguise. Skywalker and Damien arrest him and have him transported to the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center, where the Jedi Council had been planning to insert Kenobi undercover in order to uncover a plot involving Moralo Eval to kidnap Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
During his investigation, Kenobi discovered the involvement of Cad Bane in the plot and continued to assume his disguise to learn more. With difficulty in convincing Bane of his credibility, and to follow the enemy plot to its source, Kenobi assisted Bane and Eval in their escape from the detention center.
When Skywalker expressed his desire to track down the killer and return him to custody, Windu denied the request to pursue the fugitives. Not happy with the decision, Skywalker visited the Chancellor, who told him that the fugitives were on Nal Hutta. There, Skywalker and Damien harshly interrogated locals for information, which led them to Orondia, the fugitives last known location.
Skywalker and Damien had a brief skirmish with Cad Bane as well as the disguised Hardeen, but as the criminals fled the scene after incapacitating Skywalker, he informed Damien that Kenobi was indeed alive as Hardeen, acting as an undercover agent. Yoda later confirmed this when he summoned Skywalker to his quarters.
Sometime after that the Jedi Council planned the security for the Chancellor on Naboo. When Skywalker, Damien and Windu arrived in Theed with the Chancellor and Mas Amedda, Skywalker was greeted by his secret wife, Senator Amidala. At the festival itself, the attempt to abduct the Chancellor struck with Cad Bane and Moralo Eval ferrying Palpatine away while Skywalker and Windu captured Embo and Twazzi.
Damien, Windu, and Skywalker saved Palpatine with the aid of Kenobi, apprehending Eval and Bane. While walking down a corridor with Palpatine, the trio were greeted by Count Dooku, who wished to finish what he started. The duel commenced, with his guards defeated leaving him the chance to engage Dooku. With Kenobi's assistance, Dooku fled and Palpatine was saved once again.
A friend leaves
- "It's a shame Skywalker. She trusted all of you, and she felt that you turned your back on her."
- "I know, but I didn't. I'd never doubt my own Padawan. Do you think the way I said the things I said was right?"
- "That's not in my position to say my friend. We, all of us never know what is the right thing to say in these situations. Let her go for now and wish her the best. I doubt she'll be returning anytime soon.
- —Damien Knights and Anakin Skywalker
After fully recovering from his injuries, Damien witnessed from the Jedi Temple doors Ahsoka's departure from the Jedi Order, and while he was unaware of what happened, he knew enough to tell Anakin that due to the situation everyone was in, he couldn't say if his words were right or wrong. Unable to bid farewell, Damien wished Ahsoka luck in her future alone and stated that her return would be highly unlikely.
Battle of Naboo
- "Such a pretty planet being devastated by this ridiculous war. I hate droids but I love fighting by the way."
- —Damien to Queen Neeyutnee
Damien participated in the Battle by protecting the capital city of Theed from droid forces, with the 41st Elite Corps and Green Company. Damien was also in charge of protecting Oueen Neeyuntee of Naboo from several Sniper droidekas and commando droids. Damien was ultimately successful in defeating the droid army on the planet, but was then given another mission after the battle to find Korrah Naberrie, a fellow Jedi Knight that was in Damien's class at the Jedi Academy who presumably went missing during her confrontation with another droid army on the planet.
Helping a friend
- "Korrah! Korrah! KORRAH!"
- —Damien shouts Korrah's name as he looks for her on Naboo
While on the world of Naboo searching for any survivors after a small battle between Republic and Separatists forces, Damien journeyed to the planet under the Council's orders when they received no word on Korrah's last known location, along with her master. Worried for his friend Damien went to Naboo and started to search. After searching for several hours, Damien found her in a state of shock. Damien asked her what happened, but she refused to answer, no matter how much he tried. Damien sensed that she was having a troubled mind, and insisted, but she didn't say anything. Damien would tell her something, to which she understood, but had no will whatsoever in doing anything. Damien picked her up and carried her to a medical station, where he laid her on the bed, to which she would be attended. Damien felt pain for Korrah, knowing that she had lost two great friends. Damien knowing he couldn't do nothing else prepared to leave, until Korrah grabbed his arm and told him that she had to say something. Korrah told him of what happened, about the death of her master Adiara Endel and Commander Inferno at the hands of the Sith assassin. Saying how she killed the the Sith assassin, out of anger, Damien told her wasn't her fault, for she had done something he himself did when his late friends were killed by Sith Acolytes. Telling her everything would be alright, Damien was able to calm her. Damien gave Korrah a little hug and a kiss on the cheek, and told her he would await her return to the battlefield. Damien then left the planet with Korrah and returned to the Jedi Temple to get some rest.
Hidden love & confession
- "I love her Anakin. What am I gonna do?"
- "Tell Korrah how you feel, don't hide it Damien."
- "But how can I? I get nervous when I'm around her."
- "I'll be there."
- —Anakin telling Damien to confess her feelings for Damien
A few days after the Battle of Naboo, Damien spoke with Anakin Skywalker and told him that he was in love with Korrah, and had to find a way to tell her. Anakin told him that he shouldn't worry, for if he used the strength he has he could tell her, Korrah would be told the same thing. Setting a plan, Damien and Korrah met with each other in a private place. Nervous, the two took time to speak, until Korrah and Damien both spoke the first word. Letting Korrah speak, she told Damien what she felt for him, but started to cry, because she thought the confession would be all for nothing. Damien grabbed her and hugged her tightly, embracing her in a way that no one thought he would. Damien told her that the confession she made wasn't all for nothing, for he then confessed his feelings as well. Crying happily, the two shared their first passionate kiss, thus which would begin their relationship. In order for them to stay together, both Jedi kept their relationship a secret as Anakin also kept it a secret.
Battle of Null
"Master Saa! Padawan Offee!! Are you two okay?
"Yes. Slightly wounded however, but we'll live."
—Damien Knights on finding Barris Offee and T'ra Saa
As of the seventeenth month of the war, Null had become a battle zone between Republic and Separatist forces. A triage unit overseen by Jedi healers was set up behind Republic lines, though by this point, it was in danger of being overrun by enemy forces.
While attempting to heal wounded clone troopers and Jedi, Mace Windu's former teacher T'ra Saa and the young Barriss Offee were caught in an unexpected attack by bounty hunters working for the Crimson Nova chapter of the Bounty Hunters' Guild. The hunters, riding speeder bikes, opened fire on the Jedi, killing some and setting fire to the surrounding forest. During the fight, T'ra Saa's lightsaber was knocked from her hand and collected by one of the hunters, who ultimately fled the encroaching fires. Left with no alternative against the blaze, Saa used the Force to pull trees down over the survivors, effectively trapping them away from the flames.
A rainstorm soon doused the fires, and Damien Knights arrived on the scene to rescue the survivors. They uncovered Offee, the clones and an unconscious Saa, who had been wounded during her valiant attempt to save the group. Damien and Windu raced her to a waiting gunship along with Offee, even as Separatists were spotted approaching their location. The Jedi healer informed Damien of the details of the unexpected battle, and the Senior Jedi General resolved to put an end to the Crimson Nova's activities with a mission to the Rig, their base of operations.
Mission to the Rig
In the aftermath of the Battle of Null, the Jedi Council learned that a bounty had been posted on the Jedi, and that members of the Crimson Nova bounty hunters guild were attempting to collect. Rather than have his Jedi be targets on and off the battlefield, Mace Windu assembled a team of the most powerful Jedi available—Jedi Knight Damien Knights and Jedi Masters Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin and Agen Kolar and infiltrated the Crimson Nova headquarters on The Rig space station.
Windu's team successfully breached The Rig's security. Damien and Windu remained fully visible to the bounty hunters, deflecting attention from the other Jedi. Kolar posed as Argent Kole, a bounty hunter looking to collect credits for his "captive", Kit Fisto. While Fisto incited riots among the prisoners, Tiin, in the guise of a smuggler, set off an explosion in the hangar bays.
With The Rig in turmoil, the Jedi executed their show of force, fighting their way into the command center and ensuring the deaths of the guild leaders. The bounties were rescinded, and the originator, Kh'aris Fenn, was later executed by Damien Knights.
Second Battle of Haruun Kal
At some point after his encounter with the rig, Damien's home planet of Haruun Kal was in peril after a Separatists fleet descended upon the planet. It would the second battle of the planet after the first Battle of Haruun Kal which concluded with the massacre of the Korunnai, which would be the whole clan. News of it were recieved when an old family friend contacted Damien. It was recieved through an old holo-transmission. After receiving it, Damien was deeply worried for his people. The name of the contactor was Nick Rotsu. He told Damien that his people were waiting for him to help them, for a few Korunnai had been killed in an attempt to fight back, that drastically failed. Damien told them he would arrive immediately, but before Nick could say anything, the communication was cut off, which ended with Nick screaming, and causing Damien to worry. Damien left angrily, thus shutting the doors using the Force, to which he used so much force, it caused the doors to be damaged. Under orders from Luminara Unduli, Commander Gree and a battalion of 20 clone troopers were to accompany Damien, to which were to first check out the situation.
Landing on the planet
Once orders were completed, Damien and his men landed on the planet away from Separatist ships thus weren't scanned due to the fact that Damien's ship was cloaked. It occurred to Damien that they had to land in an area where their ship wouldn't be seen a droids or a droid drop ship. They landed behind a stone wall that had a Korun carved face. Damien exited the ship with Commander Gree and the clone troopers, which they wandered around until they found a droid base, where Nick Rotsu was being held hostage with a few other Korunnai. To not injure or kill, Damien ordered his men to stay down, while he would take out the droids and the base. To lure the droids out, Damien used the Force to throw a rock at the B-1 Battle droid, who was the Commander. Luring it out, the droid walked out and met with him at a dead end. Damien sliced the droid in half, but it didn't alert the others. Using Force Shadow, Damien snuck to the base, turning into shadows of nearby objects. Once he reached the base, Damien cloaked himself, where he took control of the shadows, which gave the droids the inability to move. Stuck to the floor on their feet, Damien reverted back to his original form, and ignited his light sabers. Grabbing their weapons the droids fired at Damien, but were quickly destroyed. Damien then freed the Korunnai and brought them to where he and his clones were hiding. Healing the injured Korunnai, the clones each gave them a weapon to help fight the Separatists. The Korunnai took the weapons, but one said that they had to help free those who were being held as hostages. Damien said he would take care of it, and he would, after successful attacks on six bases, every Korunnai was freed.
After liberating them, Damien said that it was time to fight and drive out the Separatists, but unknown to him Dooku was the General once more for the planet, under orders from Sidious. However, the General prepared for battle.
Driving out the Separatists
- "This is my home and you will not destroy it Dooku."
- —Damien to Count Dooku
After scanning the area, Damien waited for the droids to arrive in order to make the ambush successful. Walking through an area, Dooku commanded the droids to continue walking and to kill whatever came in their way. Once he heard this, Damien revealed himself from a hill and shouted "We fight now my Korunnai brothers, alongside my troopers, clones. We fight for our world of Haruun Kal." After it, Damien and his small army of troopers and Korunnai engaged the droids, thus destroying all of them in the process. Damien then engaged Dooku for the first time, but unknown to the General, Damien had destroyed the other droid armies, which he discovered at the start of duel. Fighting the Sith Lord, Damien would defeat him by disarming him, by destroying the Count's blades, but sadly Dooku escaped and left with his fleet.
A planet liberated
- "This is another day my people can live peacefully on Haruun Kal."
- —Damien to his Korunnai kin on their victory
After the victorious battle, Damien ordered his troops to head back to Coruscant, for which he would follow. Damien stayed behind to help fixed the homes that were destroyed. The clones left, and would tell the Council on what had happened. The repairing took a week to complete. Once it was done, Damien told his people they were free from the Separatists and should hope that they never return again. Before he left Nick Rotsu gave Damien a necklace representing his Korunnai race, which he would wear, for it represented him and his whole kin. Accepting the gift, Damien left Haruun Kal, but said he would return soon. After returning to Coruscant, Damien wouldn't be able to rest much for almost a week later, Damien would be sent to Foerost on a mission, which involved Ki-Adi-Mundi and the Techno Union.
Battle of Foerost
Early in 20 BBY, The Techno Union had captured Foerost in order to use its vast shipyards to their advantage. However, The Victory Fleet blockaded the planet to ensure no Separatists weapons left the planet. However, The Techno Union planned to break the blockade with their newest weapon: The Bulwark Battlecruiser. The Techno Union sent 9 of there newest weapons to break the blockade. The Victory Fleet engaged the Bulwark cruisers and were taking heavy losses quickly due to the Bulwark's Superiority. Steve's fleet happened to be in the system and The Victory fleet requested help. Damien and Ki-Adi-Mundi set course for Foerost. Once they got there they immediately opened fire on The Bulwark Cruiser. Steve ordered The Executive Crew Men to activate all weapons and destroy the nearest Bulwark Cruiser. The Bulwark cruiser was destroyed in seconds. The Separatist Commander, Dua Ningo decided that his ships couldn't last to long so he ordered his ships to escape. What was left of The Bulwark fleet escaped. Foerost was safe and this was one of the most important battles during the year and it would fire up The Outer Rim Sieges.
Battle of Alderaan
Shortly after The Battle of Foerost, General Grievous massed his forces for an assault on Alderaan. Bail Organa pleaded to the Senate for a Republic fleet to help defend his planet. Damien and Ki-Adi-Mundi agreed to help defend Alderaan.
Damien was in charge of defending Alderaan on the surface incase any droidships got through. Grievous arrived and attacked Alderaan. Both sides took heavy losses. The Executive and The Invisible Hand boarded and Damien and Grievous dueled once again. But this battle was a standstill between the two. The droid fleet managed to send several landing craft down to the surface. Damien warned Ki-Adi-Mundi of the incoming attack and Mundi ordered the planetary batteries to open fire on the landing craft. Many landing craft were shot down.
However, a few managed to land the droids onto the surface but they were quickly destroyed by Mundi and his troops. Eventually Grievous decided his forces were taking too much damage and ordered a retreat. Bail Organa thanked Damien and Mundi and both gave them medals to honor their service as well as all the other clone troops that fought during the battle. Alderaan was safe and this was one of the most important battles during the year and it would fire up The Outer Rim Sieges.
Battle of Cerea
Cerea, being a paradise world, was invaded by the Confederacy. With many civilians being killed, the Republic launched a counter-attack to prevent more losses. Led by Jedi General's, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Damien Knights.
However, the battle lasted for a month, with Republic and Separatist forces firing back at one another. As the battle progressed, many civilians were killed, including the whole of Mundi's family. Mundi then ordered walkers of Cannon Company to destroy Separatist artillery so that the troops could breach the left flank and destroy the main Separatist supply depot. Damien and his forces managed to destroy several Droid Army outposts. The Republic fleet, meanwhile was able to destroy a large percentage of the enemy fleet, causing it to retreat. The battle ended when Bo-Ro-Tara was assassinated by Gossam Commandos, resulting in a Republic victory. Mundi, meanwhile, grieved for his family, knowing that it would haunt him as the war continued.
Battle of Boz Pity
After Obi-Wan Kenobi discovered a Separatist presence on the planet of Boz Pity the forces of the Republic engaged the Separatists on the planet's surface after a crash landing, led by Jedi Generals; Mace Windu and Damien Knights foremost among them. With Kit Fisto, Anakin Skywalker, Saesee Tiin, Kenobi and Senator Bail Organa, they targeted the Separatist's medical facility. Master Soon Bayts was in the first wave with his clones, and was killed by General Grievous, though Alpha-17was merely impaled and survived the injury. Damien and Windu witnessed this and then dropped a STAP on the General, disabling him for the duration of the battle.
Count Dooku left the medical center, but was attacked by Damien and Windu. After a brief bout of indecisive swordplay, Dooku had two of his MagnaGuards grapple the Jedi Master and drag him into a pit. Dooku himself headed for the evacuation point, rescuing the badly damaged Grievous and leaving Ventress for dead.
The blockade apparently retreated or was dispersed following the victory of the battle.
Mission to Ord Mantell
- "Darth Maul is still alive... You can't even fathom the excitement that I'm feeling right now."
- ―Damien Knights
Following the Battle of Ord Mantell, Damien Knights and Obi-Wan Kenobi were sent to Ord Mantell to investigate who the Separatist forces had been fighting, alongside Jedi Masters Tiplee, Mace Windu and Aayla Secura. Though the Shadow Collective had managed to collect most traces of their presence in the city, Wolffe and his men uncovered a Mandalorian helmet outside the town, which led the five Jedi on the trail of Maul.
Aware of the Black Sun's presence on the system, and the location of a Mandalorian supply outpost suspected to be Maul's hideout, Damien, Kenobi, and Tiplee led an assault to lock the place down until reinforcements arrived. However, as they tried to reach the command center, Maul and Count Dooku appeared to duel the three Jedi, with Windu and Secura joining them soon afterwards. Despite their advantage over the Sith, Tiplee was killed by Dooku, and a Mandalorian assisted Maul by setting off an explosion that injured Windu and Secura. The Sith, then, managed to escape as Maul told Kenobi not to worry, as the would be seeing each other again soon; his alliance with Dooku leaving the Jedi perplexed as to what had just happened.
Skirmish on Saleucami
- "Quinlan if you so much as appear to be dead weight... I'll personally kill you myself."
- —Damien, after arriving on Saleucami
Damien was told by the Jedi High Council that Quinlan Vos and Aayla Secura have disappeared, and that the Jedi Watchmen are looking for them throughout Saleucami. Damien later arrives on Saleucami just in time to save Quinlan from the Sora Bulq.
Bulq prepared for a showdown, intent on driving Damien to the dark side. Damien's use of Vaapad did indeed open him to the dark side, and deep in Damien inner spirit, he was facing against his most powerful opponent himself. However, this may have been a Force illusion projected by Bulq during the fight, as it was within the Weequay's power. Bulq proceeded to duel Damien using Vaapad, with the belief that the flow of light and dark in the lightsaber form would cause Vos to fall to the dark side.
Sora Bulq believed he had perfected the power of Vaapad through the direct application of the dark side. Damien, in order to combat Sora's furious technique, gave himself over completely to Vaapad, and in turn accepted and embraced the full fury of his opponent Sora, and transformed his anger into a superconducting loop, connecting Sora's hatred with his own inner darkness, which passed in and out and through him, which he then channeled back towards Bulq's. Damien finally mastered the flow of light and dark, he had a strange calmness as Bulq raised his saber for the killing. Suddenly, Damien turned around and struck Bulq down across his torso, showing his level of mastery of Vaapad over it's co-creator - Damien remained a Jedi while Sora Bulq and Depa Billaba fell. Count Dooku replied this victory meant nothing while Tholme then replied that Dooku lost, as all who served the dark side did.
They all then escaped the base just as the Republic fleet bombarded the place. As the Jedi Generals departed to other places, Damien agreed to keep Shaak Ti company on Kamino.
A troubled clone
Near the end of the war, Damien Knights and Master Shaak Ti oversaw the testing and investigation of the clone trooper known as "Tup," who had seemingly gone rogue and killed a Jedi. Master Ti attempted to assert the authority of the Jedi Council to analyze a tumor that had been found in Tup's brain, but was overruled by the Kaminoans. Instead, the body of the trooper, now dead, was sent to the Grand Republic Medical Facility on Coruscant.
Tup's actions were investigated independently by another clone trooper called "Fives." Fives, assisted by the droid AZ-345211896246498721347, discovered that the tumour had been bio-engineered and suspected a larger plot to be the cause of Tup's traitorous actions. They also discovered that Fives and all troopers had been implanted with the same biotechnology tumor and attempted to bring the revelations to Shaak Ti, despite interference from the Kaminoans.
Damien also invoked Jedi authority, insisting that both Fives and the chips be sent to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine for investigation, rather than let the troopers be terminated by the Kaminoans.
Battle of Coruscant
- "I'm really starting to get tired of seeing you."
- —Damien to General Grievous
Towards the end of the Clone Wars General Grievous orchestrated a surprise attack on Coruscant itself. During the battle Damien piloted his personal ship around the capital and destroyed huge numbers of the Separatist forces. However, he was eventually forced to abandon their craft and took control of a droid ship; using it to take down several of its fellows.
After this, Damien apparently dueled Grievous himself atop a moving train and defeated the notorious cyborg; knocking him from the train. Damien subsequently joined Yoda and aided him to hold the Republic's line against the masses of Separatist battle droids. He then began to question why Grievous had launched such an attack without trying to capture the Jedi Temple or the Senate. It soon became clear that he had orchestrated the attack as a ruse to hide his true objective; the capture of Chancellor Palpatine.
Grievous successfully captured Palpatine, though before he tried to take the captive Chancellor back to his ship, the Invisible Hand, he was confronted by Damien Knights. Using Force Crush, Damien devastated Grievous' armor and organs (the lungs in particular). This accounts for the coughing fits the cyborg would face during the end of his life. Force Crush is one of the darkest Force maneuvers known to the Jedi, and perhaps even the Sith, so Damien's use of such a dark mutilation was most unusual. However, the general survived and escaped with Palpatine; though Kenobi and Skywalker would ultimately rescue him, and kill Count Dooku himself.
- "You clones don't stand a chance against me."
- ―Damien Knights, about to engage the 501st Legion
When Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued the Declaration of a New Order, Damien was at the Jedi Temple meditating outside the entry door to the hangars in the High Council Tower with Shaak Ti. Interrupting his trance, his close friend Anakin Skywalker walked past him with an odd glance . Within the next hour, Damien felt a terrible shudder in the Force and began to prepare for an assault by the Sith
Defending the Jedi Temple
- "I've always wanted to fight you."
- ―Damien Knights, preparing to fight Darth Vader
Unknown to Damien, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin and Agen Kolar had been killed by Darth Sidious. Also unknown to him was that Anakin had been seduced to the dark side of the force by Sidious and had become Darth Vader. As the 501st Legion of the Grand Army of the Republic, led by Darth Vader, descended on the Temple, Damien rallied Shaak Ti and his fellow Jedi in an attempt to repulse the Sith and his minions. Also, Damien's skills marked him as a priority target for elimination by the Sith Lord himself.
As the clones took a position to surround him, the Jedi Knight accused them all of being traitors before repelling them back with a powerful Force repulse. Damien activated both of his lightsabers and easily deflected their ranged attacks while cutting them down at the same time. He then jumped out of the High Council Tower and landed on the surface of the temple, only to be completely surrounded by the 501st. He charged the clones without hesitation, using his blades to protect himself from their blaster fire. After breaking through their lines and killing many clones in the process. Many of the clone troopers who pursued him were easily slain by the Jedi Knight.
As Vader was alerted to this, however, he went on a hunt for his former friend. Entering Damien’s territory, Vader discovered what carnage had been wrought there, with dead clones and the signs of battle being everywhere. Before Damien could move against the Dark Lord, however, Cin Drallig and Serra Keto confronted Vader on her own, and was slain.
When Damien and Vader finally come face to face Damien stated he just killed the troopers who were assigned to kill him. Vader plainly told him he had no intention of keeping any of them anyway. The two begin to battle, though Damien was very interested in doing so. When they crossed sabers, Vader threw a statue at Damien, though Damien effortlessly deflected it. Feeling disappointed, Damien, unleashed his Emerald Lightning and sent it at Vader, who, blocking it, proceeded to throw objects. Much to Vader's surprise, Damien effortlessly blocked the attacks, asking if Vader actually thought he could not follow his tactics. Vader countered, asking Damien if he thought his sluggish speed could catch him. As Damien goes on the offense, Vader used force speed to move out of the way, prompting Damien to state it looked like Vader's speed is only good enough to dodge him. When Vader appeared behind Damien, the latter can only react by placing his arm up, causing his forearm to be slashed by Vader's attack.
When Damien tells him he cannot be killed by Vader, he, taking the statement as a challenge, lunged at Damien, who, dodging the two attacks, is surprised when Damien caught his blade with his bare hands on the third attempt. Damien, stating he caught him, slashed him, but Vader moves enough so the wound is not fatal. When Damien asked why he had taken such a risk, Vader stated if he had not, he would not take the fight seriously. Damien, using his Emerald Lightning again, tires out Vader, who seemingly deflects it again. Damien tells Vader to leave him be, or, in his next attack, he will truly kill him. Vader, laughing at the notion, tells Damien to try, as Vader also always wanted to fight with him in a battle to the death. Once Damien resolves to continue the fight, the two face off. Before the two can continue their fight, they are interrupted by Clone Troopers. Them, filling the area, allowed Damien to escape.
Damien, then went to go assist Shaak Ti in Defending the Temple but quickly realized that he could not prevent the fall of the Temple. Rushing to the hangars, he began a mass evacuation. Aided by Temple employees and other Jedi, Damien ensured that many Initiates, Padawans, Knights, and Masters made their way into the bowels of Coruscant before she reluctantly made his own escape.
Exile & Journeys (19 BBY)
- "How could this have happened Damien?"
- "The sole purpose of the clones, under this order, was to destroy us under the orders of Darth Sidious, thus could not be prevented. The Jedi are but few, almost eradicated, but we survived, and so did others. Nevertheless, this purge is just the beginning."
- "We were all blinded by Palpatine."
- ―Damien and Korrah talk about Order 66
After the deaths of many Jedi Masters Damien along with his future wife Korrah Naberrie went into exile along with the Knights Family. Before going, Damien went to Felucia where he saw Shaak Ti, after feeling her presence. Damien was relieved to see one of his masters alive and well. Shaak Ti told Damien that he was already preparing to be a master and had the potential of one, thus didn't need anymore training. Accepting her words Damien departed, thanking her for the training she had given him. He would then leave, then to officially go into exile on the planet of Chandrila, where he reunited with his Grandfather. There he sparred with him in martial arts and lightsaber training and and surprisingly defeated him. The young group of Jedi would all live peacefully on Chandrila, where Damien took the time in training his family. Using an ancient Force ability, Damien would cloak their presence to prevent them from being found by Imperial Forces and spies. However, Damien would be one of the most wanted Jedi in the Galactic Empire. Thousands of wanted posters were placed across the galaxy in order to find him, but he would never be found by Sidous or Vader. One reason was because Damien killed any Imperial Stormtrooper who came close to finding him and hid their bodies in many planets across the galaxy.
Marriage (17 BBY)
- "Korrah Naberrie, will you marry me?'
- "Yes, I will"
- "I love you Korrah, more than anything"
- "As do I Damien. From this moment on we plan ahead to help bring the Jedi back to the galaxy"
- "Yes, we will" (both Damien and Korrah kiss)
- ―Damien and Korrah plan their marriage, and discuss what they will do about the future Jedi
A year after settling on Chandrila, Damien and Korrah would finally decide to get married. A week would pass in preparing for their marriage, which would turn out to be one of the biggest events of Chandrila in that year. They married a week later, in according to the Chandrilan way. Damien and Korrah were happily married, and thanked the fellow Chandrilans for helping make the ceremony. The Chandrilans decided to protect them for their bravery during the Clone Wars and after the marriage they resided on Chandrila for fifteen years before joining the Rebel Alliance, however during that time, both met with an unexpected surprise. While on Chandrila, both Korrah and Damien took the time teach the young Chandrilan children in the way of the Force. One thing they intended to do was seal the planet with a planetary coat sealing of the senses of detecting that there were Jedi or Force-potentials upon the planet.
Birth of Matthew Knights (16 BBY)
- "He's very strong in the Force Damien."
- "Yes he is Korrah. Just like me when I was this age. Must be a family thing"
- ―Damien and Korrah discuss on their son's power in the Force
In 16 BBY Korrah Naberrie would give birth to a Human (Korun) boy, after a two years of having arrived on the planet. Upon his birth it brought great emotion to Damien, Korrah, and the native people themselves. After being born Damien decided that he should be named after a great Jedi warrior that he read about in a book, as she also suggested that their newborn son should also carry the last name of her father. Agreeing upon it, the young baby boy was named Matthew Knights. A month after his birth, the young Human (Korun) began showing abilities in the Force, which were that of his father and mother. Amazed at his son, Damien called his wife in telling her that their son was already showing strength in the Force. Unknown to them at that time, their son would be the fourth strongest Force-sensitive in their family.
Aing-Tii Monks (7 BBY)
"The Aing-Tii have a different view of the Force. Not in terms of Jedi or Dark Jedi—of black and white, as it were—but in a way I like to think of as a full-color rainbow."
Damien set out on his travels in 5 BBY, taking a leave of absence from his family. Over the course of his long journeys, Damien sought out many different Force-using orders. Early in his journey, he penetrated the Kathol Rift to visit the Aing-Tii, experts in the manipulation of time and space who viewed the Force as a rainbow of many gradations rather than being divided into a light and dark side. Admitted to study among them, Damien learned from Tadar'Ro—one of their number who had previously interacted with Jorj Car'das, a reclusive information broker and the only prior Human student admitted among the Aing-Tii. Tadar'Ro, communicating through a device that translated the pheromones Aing-Tii used to express themselves, taught him Aing-Tii powers of teleportation, as well as flow-walking, a technique to experience the past or future by projecting oneself into it. The young Korun learned swiftly, easily understanding the Aing-Tii's complex approach to the Force. He hoped that he could use this power to alter the past and save all his Jedi companions from Oder 66, but he was devastated to learn that he could only experience the past, not change it. Damien admired the Aing-Tii's multifaceted understanding of the Force, and earned the Aing-Tii's respect. Over the ages, the Aing-Tii had accumulated many relics in a cave they called the Embrace. In accordance with their beliefs, they had to gather the Force-strong artifacts, but could not touch them. As an unbeliever, Damien was allowed to contact them, and spent some time in the Embrace exploring the various relics. When he touched a powerful artifact known as the Codex, he experienced a significant amplification of his powers and, in that state, sensed something amiss in the Maw. He spoke to Tadar'Ro, who warned him against traveling there, saying it was where Mind Drinkers dwelled. Damien felt he must investigate nonetheless, and so Tadar'Ro told him a riddle that explained how to find Sinkhole Station, home of the Mind Drinkers.
Damien found Sinkhole Station poised between two black holes. Within the ancient Celestial construct were the Mind Walkers, as they called themselves, a group of Force-sensitives who projected their consciousness into a mindscape called "beyond shadows" in which they professed to find a profound connection to the Force. They were under the influence of Abeloth, the dark presence Damien had felt. He learned to Mind Walk himself and was guided within the spirit world to the Font of Power, where his Mind Walker guides told him he could drink and find limitless power. Sensing the Font to be tainted with the dark side, he immediately rejected the temptation. Within the realm the Mind Walkers called "beyond shadows" Damien found the Pool of Knowledge, which offered visions of all that had passed and would come to be. Damien declined to bathe in it and experience all knowledge, knowing no mortal mind could comprehend the entirety of the universe. He merely gazed into the Pool and saw the Throne of Balance, on which sat the future. There he saw a green, robed figure sitting upon a chair surrounded by Jedi Masters who were also sitting on chair. His spirit would later tell Luke Skywalker it was not his former apprentice whose face he had seen, but Skywalker was not sure Damien was telling the truth. Driven to alter the light future he had seen, Damien ceased Mind Walking and left the Maw, determined to finish his training.
Jensaarai (6 BBY)
- "We are not evil."
"No, you're not, but you aren't good."
- ―The Saarai-kaar and Damien Knights
During the course of his journey, Damien spoke with the Jensaarai, a light-side sect descended from a Sith cult, who were in amiable contact with the Jedi. He probed their understanding of the Force, questioning their doctrine in ways that offended them. Damien also spent time with the Witches of Dathomir, from whom he learned Force techniques but who, like the Aing-Tii and Jensaarai, criticized him for learning their ways but not their beliefs, not accepting their understanding of the Force. While among the Dathomiri witches, Damien also learned techniques of the dark side Nightsister witch clan. From the Theran Listeners of Nam Chorios, who communed with the sentient Tsil crystals of that world, he learned quieting and listening techniques that improved his abilities to communicate in the Force. Rumors later flew that during his search for knowledge Damien had penetrated the Unknown Regions, home to several Force sects unknown to the greater galaxy—the Blazing Chain raiders and the entropy-worshiping Sorcerers of Rhand among them.
Baran Do Sages (5 BBY)
- "In the old days, the people only had the sages to warn them of storms. Today, there are weather stations and satellites, but a storm can still coalesce in moments. Sometimes, a sage will know in advance of the most modern instruments."
- ―Damien Knights
In 4 BBY, Damien began studying among the Baran Do Sages on Dorin. Master of the Baran Do Order Koro Ziil personally tutored Damien in their techniques, which specialized in the use of the Force to manipulate electricity, extend the senses, apprehend danger, Kel Dor Martial Arts, and keep oneself from detection. Damien began with weather-detection techniques, but wanted to move on to more esoteric abilities. Within only three days, he mastered the ayna-seff variation of the hassat-durr family of talents, which involved manipulation of the body's electromagnetic field. Damien, in turn, gave Ziil practice in lightsaber sparring. He finished his sojourn after completing his time with the Baran Do. He was considering finishing his sojourn after completing his time with the Baran Do when, studying documents he had brought along, he developed an interest in Force nexuses and decided to seek them out.
Fallanassi (4 BBY)
Damien reached Pydyr to study with the Fallanassi, who specialized in illusions and secrecy, in 4 BBY. There, he learned from Akanah Norand Goss Pell, a former lover of his future apprentice, Fallanassi techniques for manipulating the White Current, their understanding of the Force. Pell was wary of Damien, believing he carried a darkness within him, and sought to teach him to accept the galaxy's nature rather than place upon himself the burden of saving it. He did not agree, but continued to respect Pell. While training with Pell, Damien began feeling a sensation in the Force, a compulsion to come to the caller's assistance in the Unknown Regions. After several weeks, the call strengthened into a plea for help, and Damien felt that the time had come to leave his training and seek out the source of the compulsion. Pell counseled against it, feeling that Damien had to remain and complete his training, and did not truly understand the White Current. She also sensed that Damien lacked "light" in his views on the Force, and was determined that he could not leave without moral guidance. Therefore, Damien finished his training and departed to handle this matter.
Secret Apprentice (4 BBY)
"I can never forgive anyone who invades and causes havoc on my homeworld."
After completing all his journeys and fully understanding the force Damien went back to his homeworld, Haruun Kal to meditate and to prepare himself for returning to his family on Chandrila. One day while Damien was preparing to leave, he was attacked by Darth Vader's secret apprentice, Starkiller. He was the previous Jedi to be attacked before Shaak Ti was. During their duel, Damien's strength in power was greater than Starkiller's. He didn't know Damien had the skills and precision to dodge any of his attacks. Even though the secret apprentice was trained by the dangerous Darth Vader, He tried to persuade him that he could be used as Vader's weapon and be killed one day. Eventually it only made Starkiller's rage increase. In some part of the duel, Damien disarmed one of his hands from carrying a pair of lightsabers electrocuted him with a barrage of emerald lightning. As Damien's blade was about to end Starkiller's life, he retaliated with force lightning but Damien blocked it with his lightsaber and redirected the lightning back in a display of the "superconducting loop" of Vaapad. Damien's technique set Starkiller in surprise which gave him the advantage to decrease his strength and power with Starkiller's own force lightning. With the dangerous Jedi killer low in power, Starkiller quickly made a ran and escaped the planet.
Joining the Rebellion & training his son (3–1 BBY)
- "Your training begins as of now my son."
- "Your time as a Jedi begins today. You understand?"
- "Yes mom and dad, I do."
- ―Damien and wife to their son
When Damien finally returned home to his family from all his journeys his son Matthew Knights was thirteen and ready to be trained in the Jedi ways. They trained outside their home almost every day. However one thing noticeable was that he had many abilities that his father had. He inherited every ability from his father and mother. He was a powerful young boy, showing improvement and fast learning skills as time passed. At the age of fifteen, by the year of 1 BBY, Matthew Knights was promoted to Jedi Padawan by Damien, who received the title of Jedi Master, by Yoda's force ghost. It was then at that time, when the three decided to join the Rebel Alliance. It was time for the Republic to be reformed. Knowing this could be a time, where finally every master, knight, padawan and youngling could have peace, they joined the Alliance formed by Galen Marek.
Rebellion era (0 BBY–4 ABY)
Battle of Yavin IV
"Conflict is always such a bitter affair."
As the Battle of Yavin IV began Damien contributed to the battle by invading the first Death Star to fight Darth Vader. As he charged along the corridor towards the observation dome, he was spied by the security systems. Darth Vader emerged through the entrance to the dome, lightsaber ignited. Vader acknowledged that Damien had gotten stronger and was trained well by his late Master Mace Windu, but declared that Damien still had much to learn, though Damien countered that Vader is weaker than him and that if he remained a Jedi he could have chance of beating Damien. Vader, utterly confident that he would best Damien easily, opened the battle with a simple double strike. Damien was caught off-guard by the power of the blow, which jarred his wrists and shoulders and nearly disarmed him. Vader used Damien's momentary lack of composure to attack him telekinetically, though Damien managed to sweep aside the missiles. Ducking under two savage slashes, he stabbed at the Dark Lord's abdomen before flicking his blade up, trying to spear Vader through the throat. Vader only barely managed to block, and both combatants momentarily broke off.
Damien realized that until this duel, he and Vader had never truly fought as equals; during their training in the Jedi Order, either Vader would capitulate or Damien would hold back. They fought back and forth, with Damien taking a defensive stance against Vader's overwhelming offense. As he fended off Vader's series of attacks, he danced around the Dark Lord's defenses, testing their limits, all the while taunting Vader. He mocked his friend with the knowledge that, while Damien had broken free from the Dark Side's temptation, Vader himself lacked the wherewithal to free himself from Sidious. Realizing that there were better ways to kill than to call on his anger, Damien came to pity Vader, seeing the Dark Lord as a result of the same manipulations and abuse as himself, and thus desired to kill him as a way of "freeing" his former friend from the pain of being enslaved to the Sith. Damien's taunts, especially his professions of pity, enraged Vader, who ramped up the intensity of his attack. Damien continued to use his self-taught Soresu to great effect, wasting little energy and turning Vader's would-be death blows into superficial burns. As Vader continued to relentlessly attack, Damien suddenly counter-attacked with a blast of Emerald lightning, which broke Vader's momentum and forced him onto the defensive for the first time. Damien began to steadily gain ground while Vader fell back.
Eventually, Damien saw an opening in Vader's defenses and took advantage of it, slashing Vader across the throat. Surprised but elated, Damien scored two more hits on the Dark Lord in short order before telekinetically pummeling Vader with any and all objects he could find. The last such missile was an energy field generator, which detonated on impact with Vader. The blast severely damaged the Sith Lord's armor and respirator, and destroyed most of his mask and helmet. As Damien approached him, intending to finish him, he saw Vader's face uncovered for the first time. Vader, much to the shock and surprise of Damien, was a terribly scarred old man, in whose eyes Damien saw only pain and exhaustion. Before Damien could give the finishing blow to Vader, he received a message that the Rebels were about to blow up the Death Star so Damien left Vader for dead and escaped the Death Star one minute before its explosion.
Battle of Endor
"This war ends now."
Damien fought alongside the Ewoks and the Rebel soldiers against stormtroopers. Damien was able to fend off AT-ST's troubling the Stormtroopers and giving an advantage to the Rebels. One took a shot at a group of Rebels and Ewoks, which failed since Damien used the Force to stop the blast and absorb it, only to release a powerful blast of Emerald Lightning straight to the AT-ST disintegrating it completely. He then Force crushed several AT-ST's and helped Chewbacca and an Ewok take control of one. Ambling to dismantle the door to the shield generator, three Rebel Soldiers guarded the place while Damien, Han Solo, and Leia Organa with several troopers entered the place. After a successful break in into the bunker, the bombs were set and the shield generator was destroyed. A few minutes later the second Death Star was destroyed. After the destruction of the Death Star, Coruscant went into cheers upon the death of Palpatine, as to leading the creation of the New Republic. Its creation became a great moment in galactic history, as to time where the Sith had been defeated, but peaceful times were not meant to last.
New Republic era (5 ABY–25 ABY)
Years following the destruction of the Death Star II
"The time of the Sith is now finally over, the Jedi have returned after years of battling, we have now returned to the galaxy."
―Damien reflecting on the return of the Jedi
Years later a time came, where it brought great joy to Damien, due to the fact that Luke Skywalker had now finally established the New Jedi Order. After receiving this news Damien and his family now knew that the Jedi had officially returned. Just like Obi-wan told Luke, he told Damien that they were no longer the old, they were now the new. Understanding this Damien would help Luke rebuild the Order, as to even making a Praxeum on Yavin 4. There Damien alongside his friend Luke Skywalker, took the role as the first Masters of the Order. As a Jedi who has been through many Battles in the Clone Wars Damien became the Jedi Battlemaster and Master of the Order.
Master of the Order Trials (11-15 ABY)
- "A master, you are no longer Damien. Grand Jedi Master, you have become."
- ―Yoda to Damien
After the creation of the New Jedi Order in 10 ABY, in that same year, Yoda appeared to Damien. Yoda told him that he was on the verge of becoming a true Master of the Order, but to achieve the title, he had to do a few trials. Doing so, Damien went to Dagobah and participated in the trials, which took five years. Then in 15 ABY, Damien was given the title of Master of the Order, and also, succeeding Mace Windu. As Master of the Order, Damien became the Leader of the Jedi High Council.
New Jedi Order era (25 ABY–37 ABY)
Yuuzhan Vong War (25 ABY-29 ABY)
- "I have fought in several wars. The biggest one I ever fought was the Clone Wars, and that was almost fifty-years ago. Incredible how long it's been. I have seen many things in my life, from the death of my parents, the redemption of Anakin Skywalker, balance restored to the Force which is what Luke Skywalker said. Peace doesn't last, nor does order. From the foundations of order.....chaos forms in the most unlikely of places."
- ―Damien reflecting his views on the Yuuzhan Vong threats
Prior to the beginning of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Damien trained several Jedi alongside Luke Skywalker. Recovering from harsh training on Dagobah with Yoda, Damien was reunited with his family. Unknown to him, his son Matthew had grown strong in the Force and had even trained himself, although he was a Jedi Knight at the time of their separation. Matthew was glad upon seeing his father. Matthew joined the New Republic and Jedi Order, where Damien granted him the title of Jedi Master. A few weeks after his rank, unknown to the Jedi and Republic, the distant world of Rhommamool Nom Anor faked his own death after rebellions stirred up. He was able to then cause and escalate conflict, to then get the Republic's attention to a new target. Around the galaxy, the Yuuzhan Vong began to attack and invade several planets easily, without no one to stop them. Sadly, the Yuuzhan Vong attacked Haruun Kal and slayed the Korunnai. This hit Damien painfully, seeing that his entire race was decimated, only leaving him and his family as the primary survivors of the Korunnai genocide light years away. Many of the battles in which the Jedi fought in often benefited the Republic, but Damien felt that despite the help the Jedi gave, the Republic cared not, and only looked for victory. He also stated they they would not even thank the Jedi, due to the negative views enlisted upon them.
Time later, news came of other planets under attack. This just made the threat extend galaxy-wide, to then lead to a galaxy-wide war. This led to more invasions of the deadly Yuuzhan Vong, only seeing to re-create worlds in their image. Only a year settling into the war, on the moon Yavin 4, the Jedi Praxeum was assaulted by the Peace Brigade, resulting in retreat of the Jedi, as one of the Jedi there was Damien, Matthew, and Korrah, all escaping with barely their lives. This allowed the Yuuzhan Vong to consolidate their presence on the moon. Damien, Matthew, and Korrah were helped by Talon Karrde and Booster Terrik in escaping the Vong's clutches, along with other Knights and Padawans and were able to get into the Errant Venture and then the Shelter on the Maw the new home of the Jedi Academy. This battle resulted in the final destruction of Kol's ship the "Cloaked Eagle". During the war, Damien suffered many things, mostly when it began, due to the fact the the Yuuzhan Vong brought with them Coomb spore, which was a fatal disease to many, as it affected his son and wife. The cause of the war made Damien spent time away from his family, including cause the death of many of his Jedi apprentices, who were all executed. Damien's heart was put in a great weight, seeing his family suffer and dying, while his son fell into a coma after a crashing on Yuuzhan'tar, where he luckily survived. Damien grew a lot of hatred for the Vong, but chose not to take revenge. His views on life changed dramatically. Anti-Jediism in the Senate reached the peak that forced Chief of State Borsk Fey'lya to arrest warrants for Mara Jade Skywalker,Luke Skywalker, Kol himself, and his family as well. Eventually, the arrest warrants were made clear, but was never done for it was used to turn down extreme proposals. At this point, both Damien and Luke, who were going through the same problems, discovered that the New Republic would no longer welcome Jedi. Also the Jedi Council suffered many setbacks and problems.
Leading the war effort
- "This war seems far more dangerous than I expected."
- ―Damien reflecting on the war
Similar to Luke Skywalker, Damien served in the war as a General for the New Republic Navy. Despite his great tactics, Damien suffered heavy losses against the Vong who proved to be far more prepared, intelligent, and set. Damien was defeated several times in the war. His most notable loss was at the Battle of Krant, where he lost around four-fifths of his men and his Jedi companion went missing. Having heavy losses, Damien was close to death in almost every battle, even when aiding his fellow Jedi. Damien was however pretty much an isolator, therefore he did not know the Han Solo Jedi members who were Jania Solo, Jacen Solo, and Anakin Solo. Damien would fight alongside them, helping them. The first time he met Jania Solo, he was fighting during the Battle of Hapes. After this encounter, Damien became a close friend of the Solo family. During the war, Damien was injured several times, where one time he had to be pulled out of the wreckage by Jania Solo and his wife Korrah, while his son piloted the ship in order to take him to a medical station. Damien was always grateful for the help he had, and eventually knew that this war was most likely one that has tested him.
Rebuilding New Republic and New Jedi Order
- "Sith and Jedi councils, are both used for similar reasons, but have different views."
- ―Damien Knights
While Damien mostly focused on certain problems affecting the Jedi, Luke was faced with the attempt of rebuilding the Council to it's original standards.
Following the fall of Coruscant, now known as Yuuzhan'tar, under Yuuzhan Vong rule, Damien set out with Luke Skywalker to rebuild the Council. After discovering that Cal Omas was elected Chief of State of the New Republic, they formed High Council, which included both Jedi representatives and members of the New Republic government. Damien was part of the New Council. Damien eventually had strong views against politics where a problem occurred in which involved the Alpha Red, which was said that it could destroy the entire Yuuzhan Vong life form. Damien however believed even though they were an enemy, destroying an entire species would be genocide, thus would achieve victory, but to a reason that makes no sense. He was criticized often the New Republic representatives, to which he simply responded by Force Choking in anger, but was stopped by Luke who told him to control his feelings and not let the problems hurting his family, affect him in ways to hurt others. However, Alpha Red would never work because it was sabotaged by Vergere, an Old Republic Jedi, who had already allied himself with the Yuuzhan Vong.
After a failed attempt, Damien returned to Chandrila to check on his family, who were out for almost a year. Upon arriving, Damien saw that his wife and son were up and about, to the fact they had just recovered from the disease. Damien was greeted by his family saying their were all right, which he would only smile. Damien would inform them on what was happening and how dangerous the war was, to which left them all shocked.
Battlemaster Vs. Warmaster
"It was fun Warmaster."
―Damien after Tsavong Lah dies
Damien received a help call from Jaina Solo and he quickly fled Ebaq 9. While Lah's grutchyna burrowed their way into Jaina Solo's hiding place and his warriors cornered Jacen Solo, he heard the desperate cry of his subaltern as the junior officer realized that Vergere was approaching the moon base in an A-wing starfighter at maximum speed. With a great explosion of plasma, Vergere's starfighter impacted the central mine shaft and sent a fireball sweeping through the moon base's main tunnel. A wave of heat and radiation instantly eliminated many warriors before the fireball sucked all of the oxygen out of the base's tunnels in a matter of seconds. Any Yuuzhan Vong who didn't perish from explosive decompression experienced syncope, dying while unconscious, or embolisms due to lack of air. Lah's entire ground assault force died within minutes of Vergere's suicidal strike. The warmaster passed out, surviving due to the loyalty of his attenders, who placed a gnullith over his face that allowed him to breathe in the absence of oxygen and an ooglith cloaker to mask him against the cold vacuum. In space, Blood Sacrifice detonated in a massive explosion and the remnants of Lah's armada were destroyed to the last warship. The warmaster awoke beneath the corpses of his warriors. Lah thought of the extent of his failure at Ebaq 9 and considered removing his gnullith to suffocate with his dead warriors. As he remembered that Jaina Solo and her comrades were nearby, however, he abandoned the idea of suicide and prepared an arsenal of weapons, before concealing himself beneath the corpses and waiting for his foe to approach. Sure enough, Damien Knights arrived to treat Solo's wounds.
Tsavong Lah sprang from his hiding place and Attacked Damien, revealing himself to the Jedi. Lah threw immobilizing blorash jelly at Damien's feet, rooting him in place, before hurling his tsaisi like a spear towards Damien shoulder, but Damien cut himself loose and threw the spear back at Lah. Tsavong Lah was free to engage Damien. With a double-handed grip the warmaster bludgeoned at Damien's lightsaber blade in an attempt to beat down the Jedi's defenses. Sebatyne fired at Lah with a blaster but the warrior evaded and returned to the attack. Disarming his opponent, Lah lunged in for Jaina Solo but Damien kicked him in the face and destroyed the front of Lah's radank claw before the warrior could react. The Warmaster flew into a rage and delivered a powerful barrage of attacks that Damien easily evaded. Having levitated her own lightsaber with the Force out of Lah's sight, Solo brought the blade streaking in like a spear and ran it through the Warmaster's throat. Swilja Fenn's prophetic words of two years prior rang true; the Jedi, whom Tsavong Lah had pursued relentlessly since the Battle of Duro, had ultimately proved to be the end of the warrior.
Ending the war
The Recapture of Coruscant had begun. Damien, Luke, and the Solo twins fought through the Sacred Precinct, and the team entered the Citadel with Jacen's help. There, Damien and Luke led the assault to the top level, slaying warrior after warrior. The Jedi Masters became a calm maelstrom of Force energy, surrendering his individual personality to the Force and becoming the embodiment of its will. Neither Jaina nor Jacen were able to perceive their Masters as they moved faster than even their Jedi senses could follow, calmly ripping through scores of elite Yuuzhan Vong warriors as Damien Knights and Luke Skywalker's massive power was unleashed. In Shimrra's chamber, Damien, Luke, and the Solo twins killed several Slayers guarding the Supreme Overlord. Embracing the Unifying Force, Damien used his unique Emerald Lightning on a Slayer to save Jacen. While Jaina pursued the fleeing Onimi, Shimrra Jamaane knocked out Jacen and engaged the Damien. Struggling against the giant Shimrra, Damien failed to leap out of Shimrra's attacking range while Shimrra's Scepter of Power wrapped itself around Damien. As Damien held back the amphistaff, Shimrra deflected Jacen's saber throw and attempted to slay Damien with Anakin Solo's lightsaber. Damien released his hold on the Scepter to push away Shimrra's wrist and was bitten by the staff. When Shimrra prepared to strike the death blow, Damien Force pulled Anakin's lightsaber into his hand, slashed the amphistaff into pieces with his own blade, and beheaded Shimrra with the cross of the lightsabers.
Unable to fight anymore, Damien sent Jacen to rescue Jaina. Fortunately, after the battle, Jacen was able to concoct an antidote by manipulating his own tears. Luke then played a key role in the Sekot Accords, convincing Nas Choka and the Yuuzhan Vong to surrender and live a peaceful life on Zonama Sekot. Gathering all the Jedi that had survived the war, Skywalker explained to them a new path for the Order: their role was to embrace the Force completely and serve its will wherever it would guide them.
Acting on the advice of Kam Solusar, Luke Skywalker established a new Jedi Academy on Ossus, where he continued to train young Jedi in the ways of the Force. A few years later, more Jedi candidates, including his son, Ben Skywalker, would attend the Jedi Praxeum on Ossus.
For a year, after the Dark Nest Crisis the Killiks kept a low profile in the galaxy, but in actuality they were gathering for war. The nests were still under the sway of the Dark Nest, Lomi Plo having survived the Second Battle of Qoribu. UnuThul, under the influence of the Dark Nest, was enraged at a natural calamity, which he blamed on the Galactic Alliance. The "Fizz," a deadly white substance that ate anything not naturally occurring in the planets that the Killiks were given, was killing hundreds of Killiks each day. Because of this, the Killiks, under the influence of the Gorog, were again expanding their nests against the space of the Chiss Ascendancy.
Damien, Luke, Leia, and Han were again brought before UnuThul, this time as presumed enemies. Leia, now a Jedi Knight, was able to calm UnuThul, but he still did not trust them. This mistrust would eventually lead him to hold Damien Knights, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo (along with C-3PO and R2-D2) captive in attempts to get them to join into the Killik nest, which would enable him to learn their secrets. A rescue mission was hatched by Organa Solo and several Jedi, but Damien, Luke, and Han had an escape plan of their own. With the assistance of Jae Juun and Tarfang, the trio escaped on the DR919a. However, they quickly discovered that the Killik nests were also fleeing the Utegetu Nebula, in massive nest ships. Some of these ships escaped a blockade set up by the Alliance, but the Gorog Hive ship was trapped. Damien and his companions landed on the Gorog ship in an attempt to destroy their dark influence. After fierce fighting, Damien was cornered by Lomi Plo herself and dueled her. Plo eventually managed to escape, after a fierce fight, despite her nearly successful attempt at killing Damien. The Killik fleets escaped, and engaged the Chiss. The Swarm War had begun.
Damien, Luke, Leia, and Han immediately returned to the Jedi Academy on Ossus. Damien and Luke granted themselves the title of Jedi Grand Master and assumed full control of the Jedi Order, in hopes of uniting the Masters to overcome their differences. They told their Jedi Order that if they did not place the Jedi first in their lives, they should leave the Order.
After their speech, Luke finally discovered how his mother died when he made R2-D2 show him the hologram of his father Force-choking her. Luke, shocked at that revelation, later went with Damien, Jacen, Mara, Kyle Katarn, and others to the Gorog nest ship in the Utegetu Nebula to find and kill Lomi Plo. He nearly succeeded in killing Lomi Plo, but Lomi got away just before they severely damaged the nest ship. During the aforementioned battle, Jacen Solo and Mara Jade Skywalker were severely injured by Lomi Plo and, during their recovery, Jacen made Luke confront his doubt about his mother's death, saying that only when Luke could remove all doubt from his mind could he defeat Lomi Plo. Later, Luke fought against Lomi Plo and Raynar alone, against the wishes of his wife and nephew. He killed Lomi Plo, taking back his original lightsaber that was confiscated by Raynar and brought Raynar back to the Galactic Alliance, albeit under heavy sedation, and proved Jacen wrong by rejecting the dark side of the Force completely. After the Swarm War ended, he dissolved the Jedi's role in the Galactic Alliance High Council on Coruscant, in favor of a new ruling Jedi Council, whose opinions and advice would be relayed to the Chief of State. In addition, the unorthodox view of the Force as adopted by the Jedi after the Yuuzhan Vong War seemed to be losing strength and the more orthodox view of light and dark started to take hold once more. After this, Damien continued to lead the Jedi Order, and, along with his wife Korrah, his son Matthew.
Legacy era (37 ABY—140 ABY)
Second Galactic Civil War
- "A new war, another war. I'm serious, these wars are coming up to often."
- ―Damien Knights to his family
During the initial start of the year of 40 ABY, Damien started to have unusual visions which seemed to relate on an upcoming war, that would threaten the galaxy and the Jedi once more. This brought great joy to Damien since he hasn't fought in Battles since the Yuuzhan Vong War. After Saving Jaina Solo and Jacen Solo from Tsavong Lah during the Yuuzhan Vong War, Damien worried a lot for the Solo twins, especially for Jacen who Damien saw in a vision as a future Sith Lord. Damien also sensed future deaths of the most known Jedi in galaxy, as such were Mara Jade Skywalker. Damien had hoped that these visions would not occur, but he knew that it wasn't for him to decide, for it was the will of the Force, and choices others make. Nevertheless, Damien and his friends prepared themselves for the new war.
The Dark Shadow
- "I sense a disturbance in the Force. One I haven't sense since the time of Palpatine and Vader. This is a power unlike no other.
- ―Damien to the Jedi High Council
After Jacen fully embraced the dark side, Damien's visions of the shadow person became worse and he knew it had something to do with Jacen. Luke began to worry about Ben's safety and completely distrusted Jacen. As he continued to watch Jacen, Damien and Luke decided that Ben would have to be taken away from Jacen and be given a new master. Mara, however, believed that Jacen was perfect for Ben and that Luke should trust Jacen, because he opened Ben to the Force when they couldn't. To make matters worse, Ben joined the Galactic Alliance Guard, much to Luke's and the other Jedi Masters' dismay. As a test, Jacen brought Lumiya before Damien and Luke in order to find her true intentions. Unbeknownst to Jacen, Damien and Luke eventually did sense Lumiya and believed her to be the dark figure in his dreams. In a discussion between Damien, Luke, and his niece Jaina after her suspension from duty, it became painfully obvious to both of them that Jacen was falling to the dark side and Jaina suggested that Ben be removed from Jacen's tutelage.
Battle of Gilatter VIII The battle between Damien Knights and Lumiya with Leia fighting Alema Rar As the war continued, Luke requested his son Ben to duel him. This was a test for Ben to force Luke to activate his lightsaber, which later was shown to have no power cell. Luke wanted to discover if Ben was becoming corrupted toward the dark side by Jacen, but couldn't find any evidence. Worried about Lumiya's interest in their son, Luke and Mara decided to look for her, hoping to stop her before she inflicted serious damage. On their search, they were summoned by detectives to look at Tresina Lobi's corpse in Fellowship Plaza, whom Luke had told to follow Ben and Jacen. At the crime scene, they found a holocube that eventually brought them to Lumiya's apartment. In the apartment, Mara and Luke found evidence that linked Lumiya to the killing of Bothans. Distraught at their findings, Mara decided that Ben had to be taken away from Jacen.
Damien, Luke, and Mara then journeyed to Hapes, trying to retrieve Ben from the Anakin Solo to keep him away from Jacen. Finding him gone, Damien, Luke, and Mara did meet with Tenel Ka and Jacen, and were given a rendezvous point to meet with their son. After landing at the rendezvous point where Jacen had said Ben would meet them, Damien, Luke, and Mara were attacked by Lumiya and Alema Rar. While Damien dealt with Lumiya, Luke and Mara dueled Alema Rar when she nearly killed Mara with a dart. In the duel, Luke was severely injured while fighting Alema Rar, but Mara defeated Alema, knocking her unconscious, where she discovered the bomb attached to Alema. Returning to see Luke shoot Lumiya five times, Mara informed Damien and Luke of the bomb and pulled them to safety. Luke and Mara saw this as a trap orchestrated by Jacen and all became concerned about their and Ben's safety and seriously considered that Jacen was falling to the dark side and possibly becoming a Sith Lord. Their fear and suspicions deepened after Jacen opened fire with the Anakin Solo's turbolasers upon his own parents. Meeting up with the family, except Han and Leia, Jacen allowed Damien to take Ben away to be cautious. Damien, Luke, Mara, and Ben then returned to Coruscant.
Damien, Luke, and Mara eventually held a meeting with Jagged Fel at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Shortly before the meeting ended, Fel entrusted Luke with a special device which was essential to the capture of Alema Rar. During a Council meeting the possibility of exiling Leia from the Order, something Luke refused to do, also during the meeting Luke asked all the members of the Council to make a list of senior Jedi Knights they thought deserved to be elevated to the rank of Jedi Master, a request that all members of the Council agreed to. In addition, Damien continued to search for Lumiya's lair. Damien would later learn of Lumiya's survival from their duel on Roqoo Depot and confronted her again. Lumiya offered to surrender to him, but Luke was skeptical. Finally, Lumiya just deactivated her whip and offered to Luke that he could kill her at any time that he wanted, though he did not do so. Their confrontation was interrupted by the crashing of a freighter into the station they were on.
Luke suffered many losses over the years, but the greatest was surely the death of his wife, a death with grievances unmatched since Anakin Solo's heroic self-sacrifice. Believing Lumiya to be responsible, Damien fought the Sith Lady, decapitating her in one glorious final duel on Terephon. However, the true murderer was someone Luke would have never expected—his own nephew, Jacen Solo, now the Sith Lord Darth Caedus. Damien, however, was unaware of this and though the evidence absolved Lumiya, the Master of the Order turned toward Alema Rar as the likely culprit. Damien was present at the funeral of Mara Jade Skywalker, where Leia Organa Solo was to eulogize her fallen sister-in-law. However, Leia was delayed by a squad of GAG troopers that Jacen had sent to detain them. Instead, Saba Sebatyne delivered the eulogy, using points of Mara's history to verbally sting Jacen Solo, who had arrived late. Jacen tried to make up with Luke, and Luke was somewhat willing to reconcile with his errant nephew, even committing the Jedi to the Battle of Kuat in their StealthXs.
- "War has it's benefits, to which belongs to the enemy. However at the same time, we benefit as much as the enemy. Both sides seek one major goal. Victory and control. If I say this, I will mean it, this is the last time I fight for the New Republic.
- —Damien during the Battle of Kashyyyk
After the death of Jedi Master Mara Jade Skywalker, the Jedi Order suffered a big loss in its council with Luke's departure. Despite his actions, Luke remained with the Order and continued to fight in the war. With the rise of Jacen Solo as the new Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Caedus, the war only became more intense, as it led conflict within both the Jedi Coalition and the Galactic Alliance. Damien eventually made few appearances in this war, since he was consistently followed by several bounty hunters sent by Caedus to capture him and lure him to the dark side. Spending many months in hiding, Damien reappeared during the Battle of Kashyyyk, where he killed the four bounty hunters who were seeked out. After this Damien, was able to remain for the remainder of the war, however, little is known about what he did, after several records were destroyed when Darth Kryat took control of Coruscant during his One Sith reign. Although it is known he fought in several of the remaining battles, and helped lead a pathway to victory.
Damien himself was strongly disappointed at how the Jedi were now being treated by the Galactic Alliance who now seemed to think less of the Jedi's participation in the war, their role, and what they did to keep the innocent safe. As the war came to an end, following the death of Darth Caedus, Damien gained mass media attention, as so did his family. At this point anti-Jedi sentiment began to grow and expand. Damien began to wonder if the Jedi were no longer welcome or appreciated after thousands of years of aiding the Republic during several wars. Unknown to him at this time, the Jedi were now no longer welcome in what was the Republic.
Forced into exile (44 ABY-120 ABY)
- "Out of all the dastardly things that the Republic has done throughout history, this was the worst mistake that they have ever made. No matter, if they don't need us, then we don't need them."
- —Damien to several Jedi Masters, Knights, and Padawans
In the year of 43 ABY, Damien's suspicions on what many planned to do to the Jedi came true. After witnessing Luke Skywalker's trail from afar, Damien went into hiding with certain members of the Jedi Order, although it would not last. Two months after the trial, Damien and his family were arrested, for treason against the New Republic in 18 ABY, which Damien claimed were false accusations. However, wanting to avoid another trail, and a costly one, Chief of State Natasi Daala ordered forced the Knights family into exile, and they had no other choice. Accepting their exile, Damien would venture with his family and some apprentices who joined him, including Kyle Katarn, who was now a Jedi Master, to Chandrila where they will live for the rest of their lives.
Return to Chandrila
- "The Republic does surprise me in a way. Although, not much, for most of their plans and desires are easy to see, and are very clear. After this moment, I think I will go visit an old freind, one whom I haven't seen in a long time. His name is Jūshirō, an ancient member of my family.
- —Damien to his family and some apprentices
After being forced into exile by Natasi Daala who was Chief of State of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, alongside with his Jedi companions and family, Damien traveled to the planet of Chandrila, where he met his old time friend and ally Jūshirō, one whom he hasn't seen in almost 60 years.
Encounter with the Lost Tribe of the Sith
- "This is true. The Sith are not always extinct, even in the most peaceful of times, although there is never a peaceful time."
- —Damien to Korrah
Some time after arriving to Chandrila, Damien left with Korrah after receiving a weird signal. Telling Matthew he would be back, Matthew lended him his ship, which he took to the planet of Kesh. Arriving on the planet, Damien and Korrah were surrounded by several Sith warriors. Amongst the Sith warriors was Vestara Khai, a Sith apprentice and the daughter of Sith Swordmaster Gavar Khai. The two Sith warriors examined the two Jedi Masters, and questioned them on what they were doing on their planet. Korrah prepared to draw her blade, but Damien told her not to, for this was a mistake she had done on Korriban in 20 ABY. As even their son had done the same in 30 ABY. Korrah, following Damien's words put her lightsaber away. Despite this, a Sith warrior ran and attacked Damien, but he simply took down the warrior by disarming him, and unleashing a barrage of kicks and punches. As more warriors came to aid their "defeated brothers", Damien and Korrah had no choice but to draw their blades out in defense. Killing of a few of the tribe's warriors, the leader Gavar Khai told them to stop, which they did. Shutting off his blades, Damien told Korrah to stand firm, and to stay open in case anything happened, but Gavar just wanted to talk to Damien. Damien had no intention of talking to the Sith warrior, but seeing no other option, Damien conversed with Gavar, only to discover that a threat gloomed across the horizon, which threatened both sides of the force.
- "There is only one way to stop Abeloth…Jedi and Sith together."
- ―Darth Krayt to Damien Knights
At some point, Damien Knights became aware of the being known as Abeloth. He knew of her back history with the family of Force entities known as the Ones and feared that she could pose a great threat to his plans. Desperate to stop Abeloth, he left Chandrila and traveled to Coruscant which was secretly under the control of Abeloth and her minions, the Lost Tribe of Sith. He was alongside Luke Skywalker and noticed Darth Krayt during a skirmish at a spaceport as the Jedi returned to the capital to destroy the Sith. However, Damien believed him to be merely another member of the Lost Tribe.
Sometime later, after the battle in the Jedi Temple escalated to the rest of Coruscant, Krayt was seen several times by the Jedi as an observer until he was confronted on Fellowship Plaza by Jedi Knight Yaqeel Saav'etu. When she tried to take him into custody after sensing his dark side aura, he disarmed her before telling her: "Not yet, Jedi. Abeloth first."
Krayt traveled beyond shadows and met Damien Knights and Luke Skywalker. Krayt was identified by Jacen Solo as being the Dark Man of his and Luke's visions. However, Krayt convinced Luke that, with the Ones dead, only the Sith and Jedi together could defeat Abeloth. Krayt attempted to insinuate that he was part of the Lost Tribe of Sith but Damien saw through the deception, mentioning the Tribe's penchant for physical beauty. Nevertheless, he agreed, and together they managed to destroy Abeloth beyond shadows. Damien, Krayt, and Skywalker were left gravely injured, but still alive. As Krayt left, Skywalker was now aware of another Sith Order. In addition, when Luke explained that the Sith won't gain the Throne of Balance due to foreseeing a Jedi Queen, Krayt implied that the future of a Sith-dominated Throne of Balance was only delayed and not actually averted.
Rejoining the New Jedi Order
Nearly a century later, Damien decided to join the High Council and become its leader. Damien had served alongside Master T'ra Saa and K'Kruhk during the Clone Wars, well over a century beforehand.Though he accepted this role, Damien disliked politics and formality; as time went on he preferred to spend most of his time as a trainer on Ossus, where he provided tactical training to the Jedi students from his own considerable expertise.
Damien had an apprentice, Matthew Knights, who was his son. Matthew eventually achieved Mastery himself and took Skywalker's son Cade as his own apprentice. Afterward, Skywalker took the Twi'lek Shado Vao, a friend of Cade's, as his Padawan learner, training Vao to a mastery of the lightsaber. With Matthew now his peer, the two became close friends as well as master and student.
In the year 123 ABY, Damien Knights reflected on his journals about Darth Sidious' master plan to eradicate the Jedi Order, from the Clone Wars to Order 66, summarizing the lengths Sidious took, to achieve such goal.
Massacre at Ossus
- "They're coming, Kol."
"I sense them too, Damien. We hold them here. There's no escape from the landing pad except with the shuttle—and no way to the shuttle but through us."
- ―Damien Knights and Kol Skywalker
The forces of Darth Krayt, Dark Lord of the Sith, followed the Jedi withdrawal from Coruscant to Ossus. They claimed to seek a diplomatic meeting, but instead attacked during the night. Led by Darth Nihl and supported by Imperial troops commanded by Rulf Yage, the Sith assaulted the academy. Damien Knights, Wolf Sazen, and Kol Skywalker organized a defense while evacuating the young students. Damien, Wolf, and Kol made a stand at the landing platform on which the evacuation shuttle stood, holding off waves of stormtroopers while Matthew and Cade Skywalker, among the older apprentices present, shepherded the younger Jedi students into the shuttle. Skywalker and Damien could sense the Sith oncoming and ordered Cade and Matthew to take off when all the others were aboard, prepared to give their lives to save the younglings. Matthew refused to follow instructions, however, joining the battle with his father. Damien ordered his son to follow his master's instructions and leave with the children.
As Matthew departed for the shuttle, Nihl approached at the head of a column of Sith warriors. Damien, Wolf, and Kol engaged them, but Skywalker and Sazen quickly received grievous injuries. Damien drove Nihl back and stood over his former student's body, summoning Sazen's lightsaber and warning the Sith back. He stood alone against an army of Sith but successfully held them back despite being surrounded; however, upon seeing Sazen fall, Matthew and Cade once more left the shuttle and went to their master's aid. Kol SKywalker admonished his son for placing his emotions above his duties, and commanded him to take Sazen, not yet dead, from the field and evacuate. Tearfully, Matthew and Cade complied. Surprisingly Kol Told Damien to leave too because the Council will still need him as a leader. Kol continued battling, holding back the Sith and standing upon a heap of the dead. Nihl, however, was able to strike Skywalker with Force lightning, killing him as Cade watched from inside the shuttle. Skywalker sent a final message through the Force to Damien, ordering him to launch the shuttle.
Having taken refuge at the Hidden Temple, Damien and T'ra Saa and the Council were present when Cade Skywalker and Emperor Roan Fel's Imperial delegation arrived seeking refuge. Damien, along with the rest of the Council, listened to Princess Marasiah Fel's offer for the Order to join forces with Roan Fel and the truth that Fel was not responsible for the war or the Massacre at Ossus. Saa saw the truth in her words but believed the Jedi needed to regroup and increase in numbers before confronting the Sith again. Master Saa refused to believe Skywalker when he said that Darth Krayt was really A'Sharad Hett, but K'Kruhk believed it, saying that there was always a darkness in Hett and that the Clone Wars had changed many Jedi.
At this point, Skywalker suggested assassinating Krayt. Master Saa was stunned by the suggestion, saying that the Jedi hold all life sacred, and that actively seek out and destroy life was not the Jedi way. Despite this, the Council agreed to discuss it. They spent the night discussing Skywalker's suggestion with Nat Skywalker. Saa said that they had to help the Mon Calamari fight against the genocide the Sith were wreaking on them, but was concerned because they didn't have enough Knights and Masters at the Temple, and was worried if the Galaxy would be given to the Sith if they acted now. After long deliberation and meditation, Masters Qua, K'Kruhk and Saa unanimously decreed that the Jedi would play no part in the assassination of Krayt; they felt it would be wiser to give the Order time to grow stronger, while the Sith undermined each other.
However, Skywalker continued with his plan to assassinate Krayt despite the Council's decision; the plan ending with the Dark Lord's death, though it was his most trust adviser Darth Wyyrlok III who ultimately murdered and replaced him as the new Dark Lord. Subsequently, Skywalker asked his companion Jedi Knight Shado Vao, who was returning to the Temple, to inform the Council that Krayt was dead.
Battles with the Sith
- "Jedi! We're going to fight!"
- ―Damien Knights
Later, Damien was accompanied by Jedi Masters K'Kruhk, Rasi Tuum, Hira, and Shado Vao to Agamar for peace talks with Roan Fel and his Imperial Knights from the Empire-in-exile. On the night before they met with Fel, Damien and K'Kruhk had a discussion with their three companions about Fel and his Empire, with Damien insisting that the alliance was necessary for the moment.
The next day, Rasi Tuum, Hira, and Vao were present for the successful negotiations between Damien, K'Kruhk, and Fel for an alliance between the two organizations. Shortly thereafter, Moff Nyna Calixte, who served in Krayt's Empire, betrayed the organization by arriving and warning the Jedi and Fel's Imperial Knight bodyguards that the Sith knew of the meeting and were coming with a task force to capture or eliminate the Emperor.
Damien, his fellow Jedi, and the Imperial Knights prepared for battle as the Sith revealed themselves. The Korun Jedi Master instructed the other Jedi to defend the Emperor, believing that the galaxy's fate depended on Fel's survival. During the battle, Damien and K'Kruhk assisted Imperial Knight Treis Sinde in clearing a path to the Imperial delegation's shuttle, Defender One. Damien, K'Kruhk, Shado, the Emperor, and most of his Imperial Knights managed to board the shuttle, but an explosion from a TIE Predator attack run incapacitated Rasi Tuum, Azlyn Rae, and Marasiah Fel, the Emperor's daughter. However, as Roan Fel's safety was the top priority, the shuttle was forced to leave without them, allowing the Sith to capture Princess Fel.
The shuttle returned to Bastion. Damien and K'Kruhk eventually made their way back to the Hidden Temple, and remained there until news of a massive Sith attack there was imminent. Damien and K'Kruhk agreed, along with the rest of the Jedi Council, to allow the reborn Darth Krayt's forces to attack the Hidden Temple in order to allow Admiral Gar Stazi's fleet and Fel's fleet to ambush the Sith-Imperial fleet and deal a devastating blow to the Sith Empire. When Krayt's new fleet of dragon ships and Annihilator-class starfighters began ravaging the allied fleets, Damien, K'Kruhk, and Master Qua evacuated a section of the Hidden Temple in a vessel holding the Jedi younglings. As they took off, they wished good luck to their old friend, T'ra Saa, who had remained behind to perform battle meditation, and eventually sacrificed herself to create an escape route through the Sith fleet for the Jedi and their allies to escape.
With no where else to go, the allied fleets returned to Bastion, Damien and K'Kruhk included. There it was decided to launch an attack on the now vulnerable Coruscant in hope of killing Krayt. It was decided that a small strike team infiltrate the capital and disable the planet's orbital defenses. Damien and K'Kruhk decided to remain on Bastion as Cade Skywalker took a small strike team including Wolf Sazen, Shado Vao, Rasi Tuum, Morrigan Corde, and several Imperial Knights to Coruscant's defense systems and disable the computers there. They succeeded just as the Allied fleet emerged from hyperspace. The remaining Force-users then decided to head for the Temple of the Sith, where Cade would face Darth Krayt.
Damien and K'Kruhk accompanied the Allied fleet and served as commander onboard one of the capital ships, leading battle meditation with a group of senior Jedi. When Cade succeeding in killing Darth Krayt, Damien noted the change in behavior of Krayt's specially-bred Sith troopers and warned all ships in the fleet of possible suicide runs. With Krayt dead, the Sith forces flew into disarray, and Coruscant was reclaimed, albeit the loss of Emperor Roan Fel, who was killed by his own Imperial Knights for attempting to purge the planet of all life during the battle.
Damien and K'Kruhk later attended the funeral of Roan Fel. With the fall of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire, Master Damien and K'Kruhk became one of the three new Triumvirs of the Galactic Federation Triumvirate alongside Admiral Gar Stazi and Marasiah Fel. In 138 ABY, the young Empress Fel embarked on an ambitious project to construct a galactic-wide G51 communications array that would link the Outer Rim Territories with the rest of the galaxy. Empress Fel assigned several Imperial Knights including Master Yalta Val to supervise the construction of local communication array stations throughout the galaxy. While traveling to the remote Carreras system near the Surd Nebula, Damien, K'Kruhk along with Admiral Stazi and Empress Fel conversed with Master Val and wished him well for his mission. However, Master Val was ambushed and kidnapped by a rogue Sith named Darth Wredd, who impersonated the Imperial Knight and managed to take control of the Carreras G51 communications array.
Later, Damien and K'Kruhk went with Empress Fel and Admiral Stazi on a walk. During their walk, Empress Fel defended the G51 communications array by pointing out that she was investing in the future of the Galactic Triumvirate. However, Admiral Stazi regarded the entire project as "window dressing" rather than "solid statecraft." Fel responded that Stazi was a brilliant tactician but naive when it came to governing an empire. Fel's slip of the tongue led Damien to remind his Empress that the Galactic Triumvirate was not an Empire. After apologizing for her slip, Empress Fel reiterated that they could not hold the Empire together through brute froce and that the communications array project would help unite the galaxy by improving communications between the different regions. She then asked Master Damien whether he supported her project. After Empress Fel left to join her lover Master Draco, who had become the head of the Imperial Knights, Damien chatted with Stazi. When the former asked the latter whether he agreed with the Empress' project, Stazi replied that he believed that Fel had her heart in the right place but that he preferred to put his trust in a strong fleet that perceived strength and promises.
Later, Darth Wredd used the Carreras array to broadcast his manifesto to the galaxy, where he mocked the Galactic Triumvirate and described the Jedi as a former shadow of their strength. Wredd then attempted to execute Master Val before a live galactic audience but was stopped by the junk dealer Ania Solo, who managed to rescue Val before the Carreras array collided with the floating world of Mala. Following the "Carreras Incident", Damien and K'kruhk were present at a Triumvirate meeting when they received word that a young woman named Ania Solo had been involved in the destruction of the Carreras communications array. At a later meeting, the Triumvirate discussed the new threat posed by the rogue Sith Darth Wredd, who had embarked on a campaign to hunt down and kill One Sith infiltrators throughout the galaxy. Prior to the meeting, Damien ordered his stormtrooper bodyguards to wait outside. During the meeting, Damien and K'Kruhk reported that Wredd had already murdered a Snivvian Sith on Cadomai Prime and deduced that this was the same man behind the Carreras Incident.
Empress Marasiah Fel added that Darth Wredd had also killed the Sith infiltrator at the Triumvirate's legation on Ceitia Five. When Fel asked for advice on how to deal with this new threat, Master K'Kruhk commented that it was a troubling revelation that the Sith were systematically infiltrating governments across the galaxy. Antares Draco, the head of the Imperial Knights, argued that the authorities could not afford to lose focus on Wredd since he had publicly threatened them, destroyed the Carreras array, and tried to kill Master Val. Damien reasoned the rogue Sith had his own agenda. In the end, Admiral Gar Stazi successfully proposed that the Triumvirate leave Wredd alone and let him do the job of killing the Sith. Despite Draco's objections, Empress Fel concurred with Stazi's recommendation.
Later, Ania Solo and the young Imperial Knight Jao Assam left on a quest to hunt down Darth Wredd after receiving a Force vision that the rogue Sith intended to kill Empress Fel. Their quest led them to the lawless Calamari system where they discovered that another rogue Sith, Darth Luft, was enslaving Mon Calamari and Quarren refugees and forcing them to building a pirate fleet. Jao sent a distress signal to Master Val. Master Val received Jao's message and interrupted a Triumvirate meeting to bring news of the Sith presence in the Calamari system and the plight of the Mon Cal and Quarren slaves. During the meeting, Empress Fel opposed intervention on the grounds that Jao was an unreliable source and the Triumvirate was preoccupied with other more pressing issues. K'Kruhk likened the threat of the Sith to a hydra flower, which was capable of regenerating its heads. Despite the Empress' objections, Admiral Stazi and Master Val led a successful mission to liberate the Mon Calamari Shipyards which improved the credibility of the fledgling Truimvirate government.
Death (140 ABY)
- "Dear K'Kruhk, I am sorry that I couldn't say good bye properly. My time has now come. Take good care and watch over the New Jedi Order and the Triumvirate. I depart now, and hope to see you again. Remember, I may join Master Saa now, but we will always watch over you, just like she promised. I wish you, the New Jedi Order, and the Triumvirate the best of luck. Also say goodbye to Marasiah for me."
- —Damien leaving a farewell note to K'Kruhk, minutes before his death
After the fall of Darth Krayt's rule and dominance of his empire, Damien went into exile for the final time. Stationing himself back on Chandrila, Damien would serve his grandfather Jūshirō Knights alongside his family and friends. Through his two remaining years they fought against several enemies, and other Sith empires who seeked to kill and destroy his grandfather. These plans failed since Damien led his armies successfully. Years of peace and wars would mark Damien's legacy as one of the greatest Jedi in history. History remembered him as the greatest and one of the most renowned and powerful Jedi Masters in galactic history, which was said similarly to Yoda, which went on to be the same for his wife Korrah Naberrie Knights and his grandfather, Jūshirō Knights, while his son, Matthew Knights was seen as one of the most renowned, powerful and legendary Jedi Knights in history. Later on in 140 ABY, Damien passed away in his sleep. His death brought a big deal of sadness to Jūshirō and the Jedi living on the planet, which included the new headquarters of the Jedi Order and Jedi High Council. Given a Jedi funeral, Damien became one with the Force, but denied it's will, and became Force ghosts and joined his friends and family in the Netherworld of the Force. Many of his friends were from the Clone Wars, and time after it. Reuniting with his wife, Korrah remarked on how she prayed for the day they would reunite, as he said the same. Even after their death, they still visited their son, and Jedi friends. Following his death, Damien's rank as Monarch of the Knights Family was passed on to his son.
- "To my dear son, Matthew. I have lived my life as best I could, keeping myself strong within the light and that of the Jedi way. I know you will be a great leader to our family. Your Mother and I both leave you with great fondness in our hearts. I know you will continue take care of your Great-Grandfather in leading our family. To you, I leave you my Dahgee lightsabers, the blades passed down in my family for more than five hundred years. Lock them away in the deepest part of the Knights family castle in the chest I have given you. Time will come when they will be used again, and I trust you in that. Until now, lock them away and make sure you are the only one who knows it. Until we meet again, your father and watcher....Damien Knights."
- —A message left by Damien to Matthew shortly before his death.
- "A great Jedi Master. There will never be another one like him. A good man, and honorable Jedi. That was the type of Jedi my father was, as was my mom."
- —Matthew Knights to several members of the Knights family, and several other Jedi
Damien left a strong legacy following his death, to which he would be marked as a legend. Marked as one of the most powerful Jedi Masters in history, Damien became the most known and prominent Jedi in galactic history, alongside many members of his family, and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Known for his legendary tactics on the field, and skills with both the lightsaber and the Force and in martial arts, he became a giant influence for later Jedi, even while he was living. Damien proved to be one who wasn't willing to give up, which many of his apprentices would adopt as a personality. In life, Damien began a legacy, prior to the start of the Yuuzhan Vong War, to which his reputation as a Jedi expanded to the Yuuzhan Vong species themselves, who hoped to lure him on their side.
By the year of 101 ABY, Damien was seen as one of the most legendary Jedi to have ever lived, as the most popular. As several years passed, and more people were into the Knights family. Damien's family became his legacy as they seeked to continue what he had left in the galaxy.
Damien's blades were wielded by his ancestor Asura Knights, who descended from his older ancestor Ashina Knights. Damien's twin Dahgee Jedi lightsabers were put in a safe, along with his wife Korrah's lightsabers, which was located deep within the castle walls of House of Knights. The blades were set as to never be used again, for over the years the energy life force of both Damien and Korrah became embedded into their blades, thus were the only one's who could initially use and wield them, besides other Knights family members, however it is unknown if other Knights family members had possession of the blades. However, due to the immense power of the two Jedi, the blades became difficult to wield, which set the reason as to why the four blades of both Jedi Masters were to remain locked forever. Matthew, holds the blades in high regard as a memory to his parents.
Around one hundred years after his death, a statue was erected in his memory, along with Korrah. Their son was still alive at this time and became the Grand Master of the New Jedi Order. Damien's legacy ended up making him a legend a century after his death. Also, Damien was remembered for having the most powerful legacy and family in history. Surprisingly, even Sith Lord's paid homage to Damien, one of which left the Jedi shocked. Several Sith Lords who succeeded Darth Kryat in the following years showed respect for the late Jedi Master, including Sith Acolytes who worshiped his Sith ancestors as deities, something that not only bothered the Jedi ancestors, but Knights family Sith ancestors as well. Even later family members who decided to serve the dark side held Damien in high regard, and showed respect towards their ancestor.
While Damien's family lived on, he frequently visits with the Sith spirits of his ancestors, and while the talks were never violent, Damien found himself at odds with them, yet eventually, he thanked them nevertheless for constructing his family.
Even after death, Damien frequently appeared to Matthew Knights, aiding him in time of need, such as providing advice, and war strategies. He even visited his descendants who had decided to embrace the dark side of the Force that dwelled within their bodies, and while he neither pleaded, nor asked them to join the light side, Damien only demanded that they not tarnish the Knights family name, for if they did, their own family would hunt them down and kill them, and such Sith descendants listened to their ancestor, holding him in high regard and respect.
Powers & Abilities
"...If fate is a millstone, then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the Dark Side, then give me more power, and enough strength... to shatter fate."
—Damien KnightsDamien was a natural prodigy, evidenced by his rapid rise through the Jedi ranks. His feats and renown caused him to be recognized on sight by people like Palpatine, Dooku and Sora Bulq, deemed a dangerous opponent by Darth Maul, and viewed by Darth Vader as a major threat to his plans. To his Jedi allies, Damien was valued highly for his combat prowess and leadership skills, such that many foresaw his rise to Master of the Order status years before it happened. Yoda believed Damien's greatest strength was as a teacher to Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn, and proved to be a vital factor in Abeloth's defeat.
In general, Damien was a very versatile man with high proficiency in countless areas; Mace Windu said Damien was smarter than Obi-Wan Kenobi, had better senses than Plo Koon, was more adept with Vaapad than Mace Windu, and had better healing abilities than Stass Allie and Barriss Offee combined.
- Advanced Healer: One of Damien's most remarkable abilities was that he could rapidly regenerate and heal others proficiently. Furthermore, he was adamant he could heal the grievous injuries of several Korunnai whom other natives on Haruun Kal were unable to treat. In other words, he could recreate lost or damaged tissues, organs, and limbs. Because the cells and telomere lengths are constantly regenerating and rejuvenating, he aged very slowly, recovered damaged body parts. Even complex parts such as damaged brain cells and nerves could be repaired, effectively keeping his mind intact and making decapitation more difficult as he could simply reattach his heads to the neck, sealing the cut. Damien was practically immune to drugs, infections, diseases, and all harmful foreign substances, and was always in optimal health and physical prime. He was immune to telepathic attacks, since the regenerative power restores brain cells to its unaltered state, blocking his mind from any attacks or invasive attempts. His skills were enough that Darth Vader believed he could reverse his injuries that he sustained on Mustafar and fix the damage to Jaina Solo when she was deemed a helpless case. Even when it comes to more basic injuries he is notably superior, instantly healing those that other healers struggle to resuscitate.
- Emerald Lightning Manipulation: Damien had a natural affinity for Lightning. He could produce and manipulate lightning and electricity at his will, having complete control over its manifestation. Through its use, Damien could not only generate lightning from his body, but also make it appear from almost anywhere to strike his opponents, taking them by surprise. By generating electricity on different parts of his body, he was capable of making his attacks in melee deadlier. He proved able to utilize Force lightning in many unique ways, able to target multiple foes with overwhelming barrages. He also used lightning in a more tactical manner, charging up or shorting out certain types of machinery. As with his telekinetic abilities, Damien's lightning even had the potential to disintegrate targets.
- Emerald Storm Generation: By raising his lightsaber above his head, Damien could produce a bolt of lightning from the blade which extends and transforms into a dome of lightning, stationed far above his head and fastened to the ground by a large number of lightning pillars. A single pillar also reaches from the top of the dome toward the sky. It is capable of affecting weather with thunder and lightning storms, and it brings forth dark clouds to facilitate the use of its powers. Through the use of hand gestures, Damien could direct powerful lightning bolts to strike his opponents from the sky. The lightning was strong enough to annihilate a battalion.
- Enhanced Agility: While normally laid-back, Damien was an immensely agile fighter. In battle, he could effectively use the battlefield to his advantage, flipping and jumping from wall to wall to keep his opponents unsure of his attack patterns. Offensively, his agility granted him great balance and dexterity in battle, attacking his opponent from various angles with great accuracy and force.
- Enhanced Durability: Damien received considerable physical training from his days in the Jedi Order, and is well-conditioned for battle. He can take large amounts of punishment. His durability caused enemies to be more careful about how they would hit him if they did not want to hurt themselves instead. As resilient as Damien is, he was just as hard to damage.
- Enhanced Endurance: Damien was a very resilient warrior. Both when out of breath from running Damien was still able to fight effectively while showing no signs of weakening. His physical strength and speed was matched by his resilience. Damien often ignored most of the injuries he sustained in battle, not suffering any debilitation despite having multiple slash wounds on his body.
- Enhanced Sensory Perception: Damien possessed a unique talent which allowed him to sense any targets' energy signature. Damien was able to sense the structure and materials of solid substances, including the presence of caves, material changes, structural weaknesses, etc. Darth Vader stated that his sensory abilities were unlike any other. Using this ability, Damien, could detect the presence of others, easily discern how many and if a specific individual, even its species, is present from great distance, letting him easily track the target. He could determine the size of a target's energy reserve and potency, and even tell when someone was lying through the dishonest emotions causing energy fluctuations and he can tell if someone is trapped in an illusion, including himself. Similarly, he can conceal his own energy from others. Additionally, from a single glance at his opponent, Damien could immediately determine how powerful his opponent is. He could comprehend the flow and concentration of the person's energy. Also aiding him was his ability to pick up even the slightest vibrations through physical contact with the ground, enabling him to perceive their surroundings as precisely as normal sight.
- Enhanced Speed: Damien was highly skilled in the use of Speed. Though this is by no means a unique skill, as most Jedi are capable of performing it to various degrees. Damien mastered this ability to the point where he could appear to be in several places at once and wipe out an entire squadron in seconds. He could easily close tremendous gaps of distance in the blink of an eye while remaining undetected, and could surprise Mace Windu, who was one of the most proficient masters in the art as well. He mastered all of the Jedi Order's speed-oriented techniques, and even created some of his own such as supplementing his abilities with Emerald Lightning to move swiftly.
- Enhanced Strength: Damien possessed a very large degree of physical strength, simultaneously driving the heads of two Yuuzhan Vong Warriors through solid stone with just a single blow from either hand. He could punch and kick opponents with tremendous force and pick up and throw large objects with ease. On Coruscant, Damien took to tearing Yuuzhan Vong Warriors apart with his bare hands, showing incredible Force strength and resilience as he crushed armor with his fists. He was also able to send enemies that are bigger than him through several buildings with one strike, as well as send them flying hundreds of feet with heavy attacks.
- Expert Archer: As a child Damien loved bows and arrows. As he got older he became more skilled using his bow & arrows, and gained more power and precision with his arrows. This is similar to how a marksman gains skill and hits the target more frequently.
- Expert Marksman: Damien was quite skilled with a dual blasters. He could fire very precise blaster bolts while fighting more than one opponent, and can launch a continuous barrage of shots which even a Sith Swordmaster would have difficulty avoiding.
- Force Powers: Damien's mastery of the force was exceedingly and immensely powerful. He was known for his resistance to the lures of the dark side, channeling his inner darkness into his attacks to help him serve the light side of the Force. This allowed him to utilize some of the darkest powers known to either Jedi or Sith without succumbing to his aggression, such as the terrible Force Crush. Damien was known to use the Force to enhance the capabilities of his body, and as such, was able to leap to great heights and across enormous distances. He proved to show a great immense power, utilization and control of Emerald Lightning in many ways. Aiding him was also his shatterpoint ability, a power he always had a natural affinity for. It allowed him to see weak points in opponents, events, and everyday life. This power also allowed a Jedi to shatter otherwise unbreakable objects by channeling the Force into the places of the object that bound it together. Damien's shatterpoint ability proved vital to his victory over Darth Vader, the Yuuzhan Vong War, and Lumiya. Damien was also incredibly skilled at predicting the future and was able to foresee the temporary alliance of Jedi and Sith to fight a great foe approximately seven years later, in a prophecy relating to the fate of the galaxy. The Jedi Master also demonstrated an affinity for using darker telekinetic powers, such as Force Grip and Force Crush, the later of which he used to severely injure the fearsome General Grievous. He could also vaporize vehicles and alike his enemies like droids. He was able to amplify his ability with Tutaminis, and redirect blaster attacks back to his enemies, as to absorb it and channel it to Force Lightning. One of his best Tutaminis abilities was absorbing lightsaber energy with his own hands and amplify it to his Force abilities unleashing a stronger wave or blast of Force Push or Force Lightning. Damien's Force Pushes were so strong, that he could send humans, or other species through walls with one push, either killing them, or causing moderate to severe injuries. He had a powerful offensive attack becoming one of the most powerful Force potentials in history possibly surpassing Galen Marek's clone Starkiller, and Galen Marek himself including the Dark Apprentice. He came to be one of the most powerful force users of all time. During his exile, Damien taught himself every Universal technique and they were, Art of the Small, Aing-Tii fighting-sight, Battle meditation, Breath control, Comprehend Speech, Dopplegänger, Force bellow, Force Body, Force Comprehension, Force Confusion, Force deflection, Force Listening, Force-flash, Force Flight, Force Immunity, Force Illusion, Force meld, Force Speed, Force Pull/Push, Force Jump/Leap, Force suppression, Force Breach, Force Throw, Force barrier, Force vision, Force Whirlwind, Force Wave, Force Repulse, Force weapon, Force Whisper, Phase, Precognition, Psychometry, Saber Barrier, Saber Throw, Sever Force, Shatterpoint, Tapas, and Telekinetic lightsaber combat. Damien also knows every ability known to the light side of the Force and they were Alter Environment, Animal friendship, Battlemind, Combustion, Crucitorn, Dark transfer, Droid Disable, Emerald Lightning, Force blinding, Force Enlightenment, Force healing, Force ghost, Force Light, Wall of light, Force Orb, Force projection, Force protection, Force defend, Force absorb, Protection bubble, Force Stun, Force Stasis, Force Stasis Field, Force valor, Hibernation trance, Levitation, Mind Trick, Force Persuasion, Malacia, Morichro, Plant Surge, Ray, and Revitalize. Although Damien carried light side powers he was also known to possess a few dark side powers, and uses them only in extreme circumstance such as, Deadly Sight, Force Destruction, Force drain, Force lightning, Chain lightning, Force shock, Force storm (lightning), Force Maelstrom, Force scream, Force Slow, Force Affliction, Force Plague, Force Sphere, Force storm (wormhole), Force wound, Force grip, Force choke, Force crush, Kinetite, Mechu-Deru, and Mind Control. Even though he knew many Sith abilities, Damien used them to his advantage in affiliating it with the Jedi. He learned to corrupt his abilities and used it against the Sith. Knowing the abilities were close to the dark side, Damien cleansed them with meditating, showing it was now permanently a Jedi ability. He was one of the few Jedi using Sith abilities during a whole life as a Jedi. Damien became one of the few Jedi, besides his whole family, to possess powers and abilities from both the Dark side and Light side of the force. One of the few Jedi who matched Damien in certain Force abilities was Galen Marek and his clone Starkiller. Also, similar to several Sith Lords, including several in his family lineage, Damien was a highly skilled practitioner of the deadly art Sith alchemy. In his youth, Damien had problems controlling his sith abilities, since most times, many of the creatures he used the power on ended up dying due to the immense energy, or went completely insane. Despite this, Damien was able to fully master it during his journeys. With it, Damien taught his family on how to counter it and defeat the creatures, and Damien then continued to perfect it, and finally began using it to aid Republic troops or other Jedi in battles during the start of the Yuuzhan Vong War, and in several other wars in the following years.
- Genius Intellect: Perhaps the most astonishing trait of Damien was his intellect and natural talent. He was the most gifted prodigy the Jedi Order has had since Anakin Skywalker, entering the Jedi Academy on his first try despite his young age, graduating from the academy in a single year with the highest written and performance scores in each of his classes, joining the Galactic Republic shortly afterwards, and then becoming the youngest Jedi to ever reach the rank of Senior Jedi General. In addition to this he had remarkable combat prowess and was perceptive and gifted with great insight and understanding of situations at hand. Much of his intellect was seen in deduction of situations and combat tactics. Obi-Wan Kenobi himself acknowledged Damien's intelligence surpasses his own immense intellect. He was very insightful of other people, allowing him to see through a person's demeanor and determine what they are thinking. Also able to read well into the situation, he could seemingly predict anything well in advance. Damien was a highly capable teacher. In only five days of unorthodox training, he conditioned Kyle Katarn into an experienced fighter on par with Jedi Masters.
- Highly Perceptive Combatant: Damien was very detail-oriented when it comes to fighting. He noticed his opponent's mannerisms, and discerns the reasons behind those actions and the weaknesses and strengths of his opponent. He could look at unfamiliar attacks and figure out how they work by just viewing them once. Even Dooku was impressed by Damien's ability to understand things he has no personal experience with. This was demonstrated when he was subdued by Dooku's Force Lightning, leaving him with only his blade and sense of touch, which prompted him to let Dooku strike him simply so he could catch his opponent. He possessed sharp intuition towards incoming danger, which allowed him to repeatedly dodge Dooku's assault while still affected by his lightning.
- Martial Artist: Although he primarily relied on swordsmanship, Damien was highly proficient with martial arts as well. His fighting style was an offensive, brutal and straightforward one, relying on a great variety of punches and kicks, which are shown to be both strong and fast; such moves can also be combined with techniques from his Emerald Lightning with extreme fluency to great effect. Also, when Damien trained with Koro Ziil, he taught him how to see individuals' pressure points and everything that run along it. Using the Kel Dor's signature fighting style, he could attack an opponent's pressure points directly, constricting or cutting off their energy center flow from only minimal contact. Because the pressure points are closely intertwined with many of the body's major organs, debilitating and even fatal damage can be done just as easily. While his strikes are by default difficult to defend against, Damien's speed, precision, and general martial arts prowess made him especially formidable at close range, requiring opponents to keep their distance if they hoped to compete with him. During his days as a Jedi Padawan, he effortlessly took down several Dark Jedi unarmed, and emerged unscathed afterwards. He has taken on deadly Sith with martial arts alone, such as when he brutally defeated Darth Maul, and was regarded by Palpatine as highly dangerous. During his confrontation with the Yuuzhan Vong, he easily tore through hundreds of opponents, disarming many and dodging attacks from multiple directions. He fought against an entire academy of acolytes and defeated them single-handedly with his martial arts alone. He took down nearly fifty Imperial Troopers with only martial arts during the Battle of Endor. He fought three Jedi Masters and four Jedi Knights at the same time with martial arts without receiving any notable damage. Eventually, Damien took the time to teach many Rebel Pilots, Younglings, New Republic troops, including Krismo Sodi and the Kage Warriors in martial arts.
- Master Assassin: As a former high-ranking member of the Jedi Order, Damien possessed considerable mastery in the art of stealth combat. He had repeatedly shown impressive skill in staying hidden and unseen while maneuvering towards his target. He could completely hide his presence, remaining undetected until he intentionally reveals himself. During his battle against the umbarans, he repeatedly caught them completely off guard and effectively took advantage of it. Even the perceptive and intuitive Darth Maul was caught by surprise. He was also able to launch a successful sneak attack on Tsavong Lah, sensing when he wasn't using his amphistaff for defense.
- Master Strategist & Tactician: With his years of experience as a teacher and warrior, along with being the Master of the entire Jedi Order, Damien was a very intelligent man. He could quickly adjust to new developments and make quick decisions accordingly. He had great tactical acumen, proven by his preparations for the battle with the Yuuzhan Vong. As noted by Tsavong Lah, Damien was very cunning, setting up a trap to kill him while Lah was focused on the Solo Twins. He was a very perceptive man, easily deducing Mace Windu was hiding knowledge on the Korunnai. His skill at battle tactics were undeniable: as a Master of the Order, he commonly sent the Jedi Masters out to engage in battle, be it to relatively small or large threats, and has done so for a number of years.
- Master Swordsman: Damien was a master of swordsmanship, possessing lethal precision and performing brutally aggressive attacks. He was considered one of the greatest swordsman of all time. He could infuse his lightsaber with electricity, releasing sudden arcs of dark energy and allowing him to manipulate his qualities and efficiency and use electricity in various ways to attack. He had an extremely aggressive dueling style and augmented his swordplay by using Force speed, which allowed him to defeat Darth Maul and Savage Opress at once with very little effort. His lethal swordsmanship was very versatile, using impressive speed and precision behind his attacks to leave little time for enemies to react such as: Battle Droids, Riot troopers, Imperial Saber Guardsman, Sith Swordmasters, Sith Lords, Yuuzhan Vong Warriors, even Count Dooku and Darth Vader and he proved that they were no match for him. Damien was a master of all seven forms of lightsaber combat: Form I: Shii-Cho · Form II: Makashi · Form III: Soresu · Form IV: Ataru · Form V: Shien / Djem So (including Shien-style reverse grip) · Form VI: Niman · Form VII: Juyo / Vaapad and was highly skilled in evasion, offense, defense, and counterattacks. He was impossible to to stop whenever he used Dun Möch, Sokan, Tràkata, and Trispzet. He mastered the deadly form of lightsaber combat known as Vaapad, the seventh form of lightsaber combat which completed (to the Jedi) the Juyo form. Personally he used Jar'Kai in a masterful two-bladed variant of Vaapad. Utilizing a ferocious yet fluid fighting style Damien's mastery of the lightsaber form was so great, he used it exclusively as his form of combat. A factor that played into Damien's fighting style was his admission that his greatest character flaw was his enjoyment of fighting, and given the nature of the dark side, this is a very dangerous trait for a Jedi to possess. In fact, Damien intentionally mastered Vaapad with Mace Windu to also help channel his inner darkness into something more positive. He defeated Sora Bulq during their duel on Saleucami and overpowered Asajj Ventress on Teth. Damien even managed to defeat Lumiya himself in a duel— a feat that no other Force Adept, including Grand Master Luke Skyalker, was ever able to accomplish unaided. Another notable example of Damien's fighting skills was that he was able to overwhelm the powerful cyborg General Grievous, though the latter did put up a considerable fight.
- Multilingual: Damien was very gifted in the ability of being able to speak in many languages like Huttese, Ithorese, Genosian, Catharese, Kreva, Twi'leki, and his native language Korrunal. Damien was also able to speak the native language of his wife Korrah Naberrie Knights which was Naboo (language). He also spoke the Kel Dor language, which was Kel Dorian and the native Aing-Tii language.
- Poison Immunity: In addition, due to Damien being a Korun he had a higher tolerance to poisons, due to living near the toxic cloudsea that covered the lowlands of the planet.
- Lightsabers: Damien was a skilled duelist. Like Jedi and Sith Damien used Lightsabers in combat. He carried twin Lightsabers which are Light Green.
- Electro-Swords: As a gift from Krismo Sodi for sparring with him in Martial Arts Damien received a pair of Electro Swords in case he was ever unarmed of his Lightsabers.
- Gadgets: Damien carried gadgets sometimes such as smokebombs, knock-out gas, grappling hooks, and trackers during combat. Gadgets seem useful to him but some people will never know when he'll use it.
- R6-H5: Nicknamed Arsix, was the astromech droid of Jedi Master Kit Fisto. He accompanied his Master on many missions for the Jedi Council. He was known for being tentative, often worrying about his master, and for having a dislike of strange situations. After Order 66 Damien found R6-H5 & took him to his ship to work with Damien.
- TC-16: Is a Silver Protocol Droid who serves as Damien's Translator & ship butler
- Corellian Defender-class Light Corvette: Years after the destruction of the Jedi Order and Temple, Damien found the Defender and took it with him as he went into Exile.
Personality & Traits
- "The Jedi are the protectors of peace. Sadly, those facts are no longer true. What we Jedi strove for has now been turned against us. We were unwillingly manipulated into fighting this war under orders from the now Darth Sidious, who we saw as Chancellor Palpatine. Everything we kept as a tradition, everything sacred is now shattered and tainted. We may be Jedi, but we are no longer the Jedi we thought we were."
- —Damien Knights, shortly after Order 66
While appearing to be a laid-back individual, Damien loved fighting, and enjoyed a good battle more than anything. Much like Mace Windu, Damien was a peace loving individual who had a deep passion for fighting, loving the heat of battle and fighting strong opponents. He was also a very aggressive man, having promised to kill Quinlan Vos if he falls behind in battle and rushing forward to attack Sora Bulq almost immediately after being summoned to Saleucami. In battle, he had an upbeat demeanor, even while mercilessly slaughtering his opponents, whom he casually banters with at all times. Damien strongly believed fun comes before working. In every battle, he tried to get as much enjoyment out of it as possible. However, Damien has a code of honor and usually stops a fight if his opponent is too injured to fight back, and does not feel obligated to deal a death blow to anyone who cannot fight any longer.
Despite his aggression and obvious blood lust in battle, Damien was well-respected and highly honorable, and always treats those around him with respect, even those who were weaker or not as highly ranked as he is. As a result, he could be easily approached by other members of Jedi Order who seek favors or advice from the Jedi Master. Due to his high moral code, Damien would never let any harm come to either his younglings or those who attempt to protect them. He refused to give up when he believed something is wrong and will break a rule to do what is right. He was also quite perceptive, as seen when he analyzed the various disturbances caused in the New Republic, and had the ability to correctly judge people's character.
Overall, Damien strongly believed in law and order. As a Jedi Master and head of one of the greatest noble families, he worked hard for a peaceful civilization. He felt that if someone in his position does not follow the rules as a good example, no one else will. He believes that to maintain the order, all law-breakers must be punished, even if it goes against Jedi Philosophy. Damien felt that "part of a Jedi Master's responsibilities is to make sure that the Padawan's responsibilities are taken care of". In spite of his blood lust for battle, Damien cared for and protects those important to him.
- "Never underestimate your opponent, no matter how small they may seem."
- (To Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi) "Damien Knights, reporting for duty."
- (To Anakin Skywalker) "You want a reason...for fighting? Why don't you just accept it already, Anakin?! You seek out fights. You desire power. Isn't that right, Anakin? Everyone who searches for power, without exception, searches for battle! Do you fight in order to become more powerful? Or do you want more power so you can fight? I can't tell you that. The only thing I know for sure is guys like us were born this way! We were born to fight, Anakin! Your instincts will keep leading you toward new battles. It's the only way you have. The only way to become stronger. Fight, Anakin! That's the road that continues in front of you and remains behind you, Anakin!"
- (About Kyle Katarn) "I don't want excuses. Since he was fighting alone, there's no reason that he should have lost. I don't want an idiot that can't even understand this. He's just getting in the way. Hurry and move him somewhere else."
- (To Tsavong Lah) "Even if you rise up a thousand times, there will be no victory for any of you."
- (To Yoda) "I want to get stronger. I've finally found a worthy opponent. I can get stronger. I want to fight. I want to get stronger. It sure has been a while. To feel this desire again. I want to get stronger."
- (To Mace Windu) "As your padawan, I would only be able to imitate you. The role of a padawan should be to compensate for those areas which you cannot address!"
- (To Gree) "This Power... Even though I don't know who it's from, they seem to be deep in the heat of battle. Not bad. It sure makes your blood boil, doesn't it?"
- (To Sora Bulq) "You're being too lenient with an opponent you've only hit once. Haven't you ever heard of following through?"
- (To Yoda) "You're a man with a true skill… an example we should all follow. I can't think of a finer Jedi than you!"
- (To Ahsoka Tano) “In any war, there are calms between storms. There will be days when we lose faith. Days when our allies turn against us...but the day will never come that we forsake this planet and its people.”
- (To Darth Maul and Savage Opress) "You are looking at the best Jedi Knight of this era! The name's Damien Knights! And I'm letting no Sith get past me without a fight. So shut up, buckle down, and give it your best shot. Because you're about to taste a real Jedi battle."
- (To Darth Maul and Savage Opress) "You are shameless to sneak around like that, guys. Cowardly hiding yourselves and stalking others isn't something that Sith should do."
- (To Galen Marek) "With your ability, you will find it impossible to make me fall on even one knee."
- (To Galen Marek) "Be proud, as someone who, after being struck by this power, is still able to retain the form of his body."
- (To Darth Vader) "As I told you before, there is no mercy for he who obstructs justice."
- (To Tsavong Lah) "Since you were kind enough to lecture me, allow me to tell you something. You are in the greatest danger when you execute a flawless strategy. That, too, is the way of battle."
- (To Lumiya) "My quarry never escapes. Come, you Sith. But you won't get off without a thrashing this time..."
- (To Darth Caedus) "Wielding one's blade out of duty alone is what it means to be a Jedi. Wielding one's blade out of hatred is nothing more than petty violence. That is not what we would consider battle."
- (To General Grievous) "Regardless of who or what they are, anyone who disturbs the allies of the Republic will be cut down."
- (To General Grievous) "I have already told you. You and I, our levels are as distant as the galaxy from the heavens. Must I spell it out for you? I have not nearly lowered myself to your level."
- (To General Grievous) "At what point did I ever claim that I was cutting you down in my capacity as a Jedi? To justify the actions I have taken I need but one reason. You raised your blade in contempt of my pride."
- (To Sora Bulq) "Loyalty to someone is different from depending on them. It isn't even interesting fighting against someone who doesn't have his own goals."
- (To Sora Bulq) "To sink all the way to the level of allying with the Sith. What are you trying to do?"
- (To Shimrra Jamaane) "If it is for the sake of my pride, there is nothing I won't destroy."
- (To Sora Bulq) "I can't believe you called your own subordinate a tool and attacked it. You don't deserve the blessing of life."
- (To Sora Bulq) "I hate explaining the same thing twice."
- (To Anakin Skywalker) "Do not overestimate yourself, Anakin. There is none among the Masters of the Jedi Order to whom the aid of one such as yourself could be considered significant."
- (To Aanakin Skywalker) "And who exactly will you 'eliminate'? Are you saying you will eliminate Yoda and the others? Or that you will eliminate all of us? Depending upon your response, I may eliminate you right now. Although, even if you do not respond, I will still eliminate you."
- (To Lumiya) "Do not allow yourself to be shaken. Do not weaken your stance. Open your senses. And do not let your guard down for an instant."
- (To Tsavong Lah) "I have nothing but contempt for the way you do battle. Rather than face your opponent in fair combat, you prefer to toy with your enemy, stealing away the things they hold dear. You are a coward. A shameless coward who deserves to die. Now, face me like a man. Before you have even finished swinging down your blade, I will strike you down and toss your worthless body aside."
- (To Abeloth) "This time I'll put my life on the line!!"
- (To General Grievous) "I had always believed that battle was an art to be perfected through meticulous training and preparation. But today, for the first time, I was able to comprehend the thrill of indulging one's more primal instincts. You have my thanks. This battle was an enjoyable one."
- (To Luke Skywalker) "All of us have the same pride in our hearts. The pride of shouldering the weight of the Jedi Order."
- (To Yoda) "I have learned all too well that I am still far too weak to allow myself to grow headstrong. As I have been lucky enough to survive, I must strive to once more achieve strength enough to justify the pride I once held."
- (To Korrah Knights) “The sky is too vast for a person to live life alone.”
- (To Korrah Knights) "Fear is never born from nothing. It is born from the tiny insecurities that linger within our hearts."
- (To Matthew Knights) "If you wield your lightsaber without regard for your own life, you will find yourself unable to protect anything."
