In order to promote a member in your squad, yourself and the player will need to be online and a Jedi™ Member.

Trooper	Access to Squad chat.
Commander	Can invite players to the squad or remove Troopers from the squad.
General	Can invite players to the squad Can remove Troopers and Commanders from the squad Can promote Troopers to Commander or demote Commanders to Trooper Can set Squad message of the day.
Leader	Access to all Squad options (There can only be one Leader per Squad and it is the player that created the Squad).
