The 653rd Intel Regiment was a unit of clones attached to the 91st Reconnaissance Corps. Placed under the command of Jedi General Alloysis Keloy and Clone Captain Dasher, the regiment's primary roles were frontline duties and to accumulate intelligence on enemy operations and positions. Identified by the crimson red markings on their armor, the 653rd comprised of normal clone troopers and ARF troopers.

In 22 BBY, members of the 653rd fought in the Battle of Geonosis, which inevitably led to the three-year conflict known as the Clone Wars. During the war, the 653rd troops were known for their unwavering loyalty to the Republic, earning them the trust of many in the Senate, including the commander-in-chief, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Torch Company and the 81st Artillery Battalion were all attached to the unit.

History[]

Formed in 22 BBY as a scouting and frontline unit in the Grand Army of the Republic, the 653rd Regiment's missions took them to the Mid Rim and the Outer Rim. The 653rd troops helped secured several major victories such as Ryloth, Brentaal IV and Thule to name but a few. Known for their unwavering loyalty to the Republic, Chancellor Palpatine personally entrusted only a handful of them with special scouting missions for the future. Because of their scouting expertise, small units of the 653rd were dispatched by the Jedi Order to scout out enemy territory, directly reporting to the Jedi War Council. On some occasions, the 653rd provided valuable information such as the locaiton of Jabba the Hutt's son on Teth.

In 19 BBY, at the end of the war, the troops also helped Clone intelligence track down General Grievous on Utapau. Also in the same year, the regiment, along with Stass Allie and 91st Reconnaissance Corps secured a victory on Saleucami during the Outer Rim Sieges. Following the war, troops of the 653rd unit were absorbed into the Stormtrooper Corps, with some being taken on into Imperial Intelligence.
