"I myself have never found anything to happen by luck. An outcome can only be decided by the minds overlooking the situation."
―Bastillion Covell

Bastillion Covell was a male Human who served as a general in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. He was a respected military officer in the Republic command before and during the fight against the Separatist movement led by Count Dooku, and served in many battles, both in strategy and on the front. One such conflict was the Battle of Colla IV, in which he led his men to extract the remaining platoon of Clone Troopers who were under fierce attack by a Scorpenek Annihilator Droid.

Covell Graduate

Covell was born on Corulag in 68 BBY and grew up in a middle-class family with an immense interest in military and strategy. Joining the Judicial Academy at age eighteen, he displayed numerous leadership skills while training in infantry assault that impressed even the highest ranking officials of the Judicial Forces. After graduating as a Captain, Covell was assigned a position at the Planetary Security Force on Ansion. There, he helped in organizing the Keitumite Mutual Military Treaty in 42 BBY, at which point he became a Lieutenant Colonel.

Over the course of the next decade, Covell served the Republic's security forces, keeping the cruisers of the Trade Federation in check. However, shortly after the Battle of Naboo, Covell took a military leave and returned to his homeworld and his long-time love, whom he married and lived with for the next several years. In 29 BBY, the Covells had their first and only son Freja Covell, who took after his father in his military interests.

The Clone Wars

During the Separatist Crisis, specifically at the formation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in 24 BBY, Covell―now at the rank of General―returned to a more active military service because of the increasingly uneasy state the Senate was entering. Because of the high tension, many of Covell's associates speculated that it would inevitably lead to a full-scale armed conflict, though Covell himself hoped that it would end with a peaceful secession. At the outbreak of the Clone War in 22 BBY, Covell accepted his leadership role in the Grand Army of the Republic, taking command of his own unit of Clone troopers, Raider Battalion.
